[WISPA] Purewave CPE's TR-069 Solutions

2014-01-20 Thread Mark Spring
Are any users out there deploying Purewave access gear and/or TR-069
capable CPE. We have a mix of gemtek and green packet radios connecting
back some purewave base stations. The gemteks give us fits on remote
management via their web interface, especially when we are seeing
interference which is typically when we need/want to get in and make
changes to the scanner. I am looking for a way to provision the gemteks via
dhcp option 43 and so far I haven't gotten the responses I need from gemtek
or purewave.

Any and all relevant input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark Spring

Just speed limiting, not concerned about data capping. We have some
older equipment that we does not have CPE limiting so we need an
appliance to handle the bandwidth control per IP.

Shaper meaning speed limiting, not data amount limiting (Capping)?

For speed we use built-in UBNT CPE limiting with MT backup limiting.

[WISPA] Alvarion VL SU to SU

2014-01-20 Thread Edward Spoon
Seems like there is a filter preventing SU to SU communication on the same
AP. I know Trango's had this and had an option to enable or disable. Anyone
familiar with where this setting would be in the Alvarion setup, if it is
configurable at all?

At one point they had a cell extender that acted as a repeater, but that was
an AU and SU merged into a single NEMA box. I know of no way to connect SU to
SU directly without an AU in the middle. The caveat is that I was never an

Re: [WISPA] Purewave CPE's TR-069 Solutions

2014-01-20 Thread Blake Covarrubias
Hi,

Yes we are utilizing Purewave Runcom WiMAX gear with TR-069 capable Gemtek
and GreenPacket CPE. We're utilizing ACSlite (acslite.com) from Netmania for
TR-069.

The configuration of option 43 is going to depend on which DHCP server you are
using. For ISC DHCP FreeRADIUS DHCP the URL of the ACS server must be encoded
(ie converted to hex) into a DHCP TLV. Other DHCP servers may let you configure
the value in ASCII and then send it as hex. I'm not sure.

Contact me off-list if you would like specifics on how to implement this in
either of the aforementioned DHCP servers.

Yeah, I don't know of anyway to make an SU talk to an SU direct.

for which I had no knowledge. I doubt it though, otherwise they'd no have
 built the extender.

H, I thought I recalled that you could turn that off? Or maybe it
was you have to assign a different subnet IP to each device so they talk
 through the head router.

[WISPA] New to exisiting customer plans

2014-01-20 Thread heith petersen
Just kind of touching up on a thread I had a few weeks back. We are looking
into offering packages for different speeds. One question I had is for our 900
MHz customers and maybe outer edge customers, would it be prudent to drop their
current price a little considering at this time I wouldn’t be able to offer
them what I could for other customers? Aside from a few large business
customers and multiple account combo deals, about 90 % of our customer base
pays $45 per month for basic service. Right now when I get hammered by Netflix
users, I give them the bare minimum of what I can to get them their service. I
would like to see those customers pay $5 to $15 per month more to run these
services. In all honestly its not fair to others who cannot get that service. I
cant anticipate that these basic users will be elated that their basic service
bill dropped, or pissed that I have been selling this service for 8 plus years.

Anyways, if anyone has dropped their price for certain areas or packages, I am
curious of how it turned out

thanks

Re: [WISPA] New to exisiting customer plans

2014-01-20 Thread timothy steele
On 900mhz they are not paying for speed but the high maintenance on 900mhz and
being the only option for them goal should be to get them on 2.4 or anything
other then 900mhz before they can get something better

If you have a friendly and knowledgeable person answering the phones you should
not have a problem keeping the 900mhz customers at a higher price

Re: [WISPA] [WISPA Approved Ad] 2xWireless Advertisement

2014-01-20 Thread Blair Davis

I thought this was interesting the first time I heard about it.
Sorta NetStream Dual with PtMP added.

Still interesting, but a few defects from my POV...

1) AP price is too high for me
2) No connectorized AP
3) CPE price is kinda high... Could deal with this if the AP
pricing was substantially better.
4) No connectorized CPE

I don't have the density in many locations to need sectors.

But still interesting. As it evolves and pricing improves, I can
see a major place for it...
