This is excellent for WISPA to be recognized in this public forum and even
better for Forbes. Great work, very impressive!

Re: [WISPA] Easy hotspot programs

2013-02-11 Thread Shaun Hoggan
With respect to UniFi gear, has anyone has any trouble with UniFi
connection reliability with Apple products? I have an installation where
Apple products (laptops and iphones) have sporadic connectivity while my
neighboring Dell laptop works just fine.

To define sporadic connectivity the connection works fine then all of a
sudden, without notice, the connection will drop. After 3-5 minutes it
will reconnect. While this happens, my Dell laptop will stay connected
without any problems or disconnect.

Hasn't annoyed me enough yet to do anything about it - and i can reboot

Re: [WISPA] OpenSource Email Server platform

2011-03-29 Thread Shaun Hoggan
This is a great dialog on the pros and cons of hosting vs. outsourcing email.
While the answer is not going to be the same for everyone, outsourcing our mail
to Google has improved our customer experience many fold and has further
entrenched our customers to us as their ISP.

IKANO determined several years ago that we could not compete with the Google
Gmail. The adage goes, if you cannot beat them join them. IKANO ended up
moving our mail to Gmail and it has been one of the single best decisions we
have made as a service provider.

You can find out more about how IKANO is enabling service providers to move to
Gmail here:

Google apps Partner Edition, now Google Apps for ISPs, was free prior to 2008
but unless you registered your domain with Google prior to 2008 it is now a
paid product.

You should also be aware that Google no longer offers this service direct and
