This is a great dialog on the pros and cons of hosting vs. outsourcing email. While the answer is not going to be the same for everyone, outsourcing our mail to Google has improved our customer experience many fold and has further entrenched our customers to us as their ISP.
IKANO determined several years ago that we could not compete with the Google Gmail. The adage goes, "if you cannot beat them join them." IKANO ended up moving our mail to Gmail and it has been one of the single best decisions we have made as a service provider.
