just leased a tower which will have 6 of the UBNT TI sectors (2.4/5.8)...
could have saved me about $500 a month in lease fees. I wonder if there is
already a box that could hold a TI 2.4 and TI 5.8? I want to use TIs for

I'd be interested in a combo 3.65GHz and 5.xGHz antenna. We do not use 2.4
much ourselves. 60 to 90 degrees would be optimal for us. We're running into
loading issues on some sites if we're looking to convert from Canopy FSK form
factor to 8 - 12 17 db sectors at a single site. The cost concerns about
commercial sites has already been brought up but some grain legs do not have
the capacity to easily install that many antennas much less some of our water
tower locations that also have cell carriers on them.

We can make a Sector antenna for 4 Rockets similar to the one in your

It can be with 4 external N-Female connectors or with a metal shielded

 What frequencies are needed?

I realized a while ago that I would like to know the characterization of
dual polarity antennas in both polarities.. i.e. On a dual polarity
antenna the Vertical polarity has a horizontal and vertical coverage and
the Horizontal polarity has a horizontal and vertical coverage. Is
this something I can find out or are the numbers for vertical and
horizontal good for both antennas? This is important for us.

2014-03-17 Thread Mark Spring
Clay,

We put up some of the TI rockets with the same idea in mind, maybe they've
gotten better but I got sick of sending guys out to change them out. Even
after the recall it seems that they create more work, sticking with the old
school sectors and rockets for now(with shielding). Just my two cents on a
slightly unrelated topic.

Was KP looking at dual frequency antennas like this recently? Seems to me
that I saw something similar floating around the boards..

Re: [WISPA] 8x8 antenna for ubnt?? pic attached

2014-03-17 Thread Mark Spring
I had to relocate some TI Sectors that I installed because of inter AP
interference. While I didn't get a chance to haul rf armor up and compare
the two, so perhaps it was just planned poorly from the start. The
overwhelming response I see online is that the titanium gear isn't worth
it's salt, so when we saw this in the field we just went back to the
trusted gear. They are making 5ghz rf armor for the titanium sectors.

The nanobeam does seem to be a recent piece of innovation that has turned
out well...it hasn't baked for a long time though, hoping it proves out
because I really like what I see at this point.

We can make a Sector antenna for 4 Rockets similar to the one in your

It can be with 4 external N-Female connectors or with a metal shielded
enclosure with internal SMA connectors to put the rockets inside.

What frequencies are needed?

And who would like to test this new design for us?

on the lower half of the Sector it seems like the big sector has been

At the bottom of the sector it seem sto have the model number information,
but the version I got doesn't let me zoom in enough. Judging by the filename,
is this a download off of FaceBook?

We can make a Sector antenna for 4 Rockets similar to the one in your
 pictures.

It can be with 4 external N-Female connectors or with a metal shielded
enclosure with internal SMA connectors to put the rockets inside.

 What frequencies are needed?

And who would like to test this new design for us?

It would be nice to see an antenna that did 2 x 90 MIMO 2.4GHz and 2 x 90
MIMO 5GHz antennas, effectively a 180 sector that has 2 sectors of 2.4GHz
and 5GHz in it. I would pay 2-4x the normal antenna price because it will
reduce my tower rent. I would also help test. It might also be nice to
have a 120 version with 60 degree sectors in it.

That would be enough for me to consider using some - lower tower lease fees. I
would like to see one that is 2.4 dual slant, 3.65 dual slant, and 5 standard
dual polarity H/V. All with a 90 or 120 degree sector pattern. 14 to 18 dbi

2014-03-17 Thread Clay Stewart
When you are saying TI is 'not worth its salt', are you saying the sectors
or the TI radios? We have a couple dozen TI sectors using non-TI radios
with great results. Installed a NanoBeam M5 to one last Friday with
25/18Mbps at 1.5 miles and on last Saturday install an RDM5 dish to same TI
sector with standard M5 rocket at 5.5 miles for 20/18 on the edge of the
120 degrees and through row of trees. Noise levels. Then two weeks ago we
had 38/25 on one at 5 miles with NanoBridge.

TI Radios have reported issues and have not used them at all yet... waiting
for better reports. Just wanted to clear up discussion. I use RFArmour
also, but the TI sectors have less wind load and foot print for our
mini-towers.

it's salt, so when we saw this in the field we just went back to the
trusted gear. They are making 5ghz rf armor for the titanium sectors.

The nanobeam does seem to be a recent piece of innovation that has turned

because I really like what I see at this point.

Also... to remain non-bias... have many Itelite ants too with Rockets. They
are great for very low profile, esthetically placement of rockets,

Would be very interested in a box to accept an RM2 and RM5. I talked to an
ex-installer today who now works for one of the big cells as tower
equipment engineer... he says almost all of the LTE sectors are dual

I think one of the many local wisps popping here are getting very creative

Anyone can ID this sector? Im thinking its a Mobile Carrier antenna that they
are reusing… but what band?

At the bottom of the sector it seem sto have the model number information, but
the version I got doesn't let me zoom in enough. Judging by the filename, is
this a download off of FaceBook?

Yes its dwnld from FB… it appears that the lower radios are feeding 2 small
UBNT sector inside the big sector enclosure, by the positioning of the nuts on
the lower half of the Sector it seems like the big sector has been modified…

The RPSMA Connectors spaced just right for rockets seems unlikely for a
Carrier panel antenna. I would guess that is a custom job , Maybe they put
the guts from several ubnt Sectors into a recycled case.

Yeah, I would be using a synced system in this scenario. It'd help if they were
different bands or enough frequency separation in 5 GHz.

It looks like there is a sticker / label at the bottom of the antenna...and it
appears that there is some sort of a logo engraved on the plastic covers on top
of the lower Rocket's

A clearer picture of the two might give you better clues as to brand and
product.
