RE: [WISPA] Trango M900 AP - Connectorized?

2006-06-29 Thread Mac Dearman

I haven't tried the LOS range because if I have LOS to the 900 then I have
LOS to 2.4 and 5.x and my druthers are to connect to those instead.

YMMV, but the 900 is not a magic bullet! I do have clients connected up to
2.5 miles NLOS, but it's really close to NEAR LOS rather than NO LOS. The
clients I have connected that are really through dense tree tops of .5 to
.75 mile are experiencing no troubles, no lost packets and connect at my
shaped level of 1250kbps/256kbps and have a signal level of -77/-79

This is out of one of my SUs - note the distance signal levels - this is
skimming about .5 mile of tree tops w/NLOS never a moments problem
although not the best signal levels!

Thanks, Mac...what kind of NLOS range are you getting out of that 9dbi HPol
omni? LOS range?

 Mark,

The M900AP (every one of them) have your choice of either integrated HPOL
or VPOL antenna's that is software switchable or external antenna fitting.
The external antenna fitting is a RP-SMA. I have several of the PAC
Wireless
V Pol antennas that I tried, but the noise in the sticks in the 900MHz
range
is more than expected and I had to buy the HPOL PacWireless Omnis - which
by
the ay - - work fantastic!

I'm getting conflicting information from Trango sales reps, their online

datasheet and others who know the product. So... Does the M900 AP come
 connectorized? If so, what connector?

My application is about 2 miles NLOS (many trees). Looking to do it with
omni...don't have to go hpol. Who's using what and are you happy with it?

 Thanks!

Yes the AP has an external connector. It uses the same connector as all the
other Trango units with external ports.

Re: [WISPA] Trango M900 AP - Connectorized?

2006-06-29 Thread Tom DeReggi

Hard question to answer.
One of our sites uses teh Pac Wireless Hor Omni.

I just had one prospect 1/4 mile from the tower, no success, -90db signal
with Yagi, the trees were jsut to thick.
I have another sub going through three miles of trees, with -74 and works
great.

I plan on 5 mile cells in 900Mhz. But truthfully it is not about distance,
its about thickness of foliage.

Two or three relly thick pine trees can kill a link.

Hi Mark...I have one and it does have a connector; I believe it's
Reverse SMA. We're not deployed yet but I'm going to be using it with an
omni as well. Take care leon
