RE: Witango-Talk: double clicks

In all cases, the requests (all of them)
get executed completely. You need to explicitly protect applications that can
be corrupted by multiple clicks.

Witango-Talk: Fatal Errors on Query Timeout

2004-01-09 Thread Dave Machin
Twice now, on one of our machines we get a Fatal Exception immediately after a
long-running query goes over the query timeout limit. This is a development machine
with only 1 or 2 users on it. It looks like WiTango tries to restart but it never
actually does. W2K, Witango 5.0.1.065, MS-SQL 2000.

We've got a site running in Korean and Chinese and it works fine, we learned the
following:

The WiTango ini file has to be set to encoding=false

We never got Unicode data to work (coming from an MS-SQL database) but country
specific encoding schemes work fine
The 'view source' data for our Korean text looks like this:
ȸ¿ø´Ô²²¼ ¹®ÀÇÇϽŠ³»¿ëÀÌ ´äº¯¸ÞÀÏÀ» ÅëÇØ ÇØ°á
µÇ¼Ì³ª¿ä?

I'm not sure if your source is equivalent (Žç”é‹)

RE: Witango-Talk: General Question - Testing Witango

2004-01-09 Thread Wolf, Gene
Ahh, I see the confusion. It's not Just Witango we're testing, but the
interfaces with other software as well. We have Spitfire Charts, Popcharts,
Schedule Wizard, and a bunch more. We have FTP programs that download from
corporate every 10 minutes and other FTP jobs that run once a day. We have
Witango programs that read flat files downloaded from other systems and
update database information.

We have Witango hooks to ADP payroll systems and uploads of flat files to
our own corporate ERP system. If I were only testing Witango it would
probably take 10 minutes. Before I turn on a new server I need to make sure
all the hooks into these other systems are working as well. This is what
takes the time. Did we overlook something that another system relies on that
we run in to only once every other week (ADP Upload)?

I was just curious as how other places did things like this. Maybe we're
unique in that we are a large defense company and are using Witango only
internally. I was just wondering how other people did migrations like this.

So are you testing the server itself, because you are already running
multi-processors witango? I guess I don't see where adding 2 more
processors is going to need that much testing :-b

Really you should contact Sophie or Phil at With on arrangements for
temp licenses

Yep, we are setting up a four processor server to replace our two
processor to allow us to grow for a few more years. We will be using the
older box for our "sandbox" and use our old Witango server license in
order
to do testing, etc., before moving things over to our production box. It
will replace our current sandbox machine and we can copy all of our
database
files to this new sandbox so we can completely isolate that testing
environment from our production environment.

We're looking to grow significantly in the next few years and we're
preparing for that growth now.

Hi Troy,

I have to say I don't know much about outputting Asian characters, but the
difference appears to be in the "actual" output, when you look at
view-source.

I put the two view-sources in a screen-shot because I didn't want the email
to mess up the actual characters. Let me know if you don't get it.

Have you tried setting <@ASSIGN local$encodeResults VALUE="FALSE"> (or TRUE)
to see what difference in output?

Let us know. Cheers...

RE: Witango-Talk: General Question - Testing Witango

2004-01-09 Thread Ben Johansen
Let me get this straight...

You are presently using the professional on a 2 processor server and now
have a 4 processor server?

Subject: Witango-Talk: General Question - Testing Witango

I've not seen this addressed before so I'd like to address it with
this
entire group. We purchased Witango 5 Professional with the knowledge
that
later this year we were going to upgrade our Intranet server from a 2
processor to a 4 processor machine later this year. Well, later came
earlier
than we expected. We have received the box, installed almost all of our
software, and are currently testing some of our applications.

What we would like to do is install our Wintango 5 professional
server on
this machine and stress test it by getting several hundred people to
pound
on it for some period of time. This will let us shake out any additional
bugs we didn't find in the preliminary testing. I also don't want to get
into any licensing violation issues, nor disrupt our currently, heavily
used, Witango Intranet server. I'm assuming that to thoroughly test this
new
box will take maybe 3-4 weeks. Yes, that long. We have some applications
that run on a monthly cycle, but are still very important.

My question is, how do you folks address this kind of upgrade? I
can't
justify purchasing another copy of the server, but in order to test we
typically need more time than temporary licenses allow. Are we out of
the
ordinary in taking an extended time to test, or do others run into
similar
situations and do it differently?

   Just curious.

Witango-Talk: Japanese

2004-01-09 Thread Troy Sosamon
I am working on an international web site and need to display several
different languages.
I have no problems with Portugese, French, Inalian, Queens English, German,
Chinese, and Spanish.

I am trying to get Japanese to work, and the characters do not display as
expected.
I can put the Japanese code in an HTML file and it works fine when the
Encoding is set to Japanese JIS.
I can reproduce the problem if I put my Japanese page in a plain html file,
pull it up, right click, and change the encoding from Japanese to Western
European, I get the same characters that Tango always displays.

example at http://www.eapintl.com/csfb/csfb.taf?_function=test

I need to set the encoding type somehow.
I am thinking I need to change this for the server? Doesn't Tango have a
master header file that it uses?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Troy Sosamon
