RE: Witango-Talk: What Version???

I think there's a pretty good reason you don't get an answer from
Pervasive... Hell, I couldn't get an answer from them when they owned
Tango.

 Subject: Witango-Talk: What Version???

I am going to be setting up some servers for a company...

 Win 2003 Server
   Witango 5

 Win 2003 Server
   Win SQL 2000

 Win 2003 Server
   (backup)

I am expecting about 2000 to 10,000 visits per week. Maybe more if it
 takes off.

 Questions

Can I get by with a small business Witango server?
Should I just buy the standard?
Will a reseller beat the prices that is listed on the site?
If I need to upgrade, will a reseller beat the prices that is listed
 on the site?

Sorry for the pricing post, but I have been emailing pervasive
directly and I am getting no response.

 Thanks

Here's a couple of answers for you:

1. Price: One of the resellers, witangostore.com, sells
at a discount. That's a good place to buy the server.
2. Which server: The small business server is limited to
10 simultaneous user sessions. If you don't need to maintain
user sessions, then you can set variableTimeout to 1 second
and support the number of visitors that you described. However,
if you need people to login to your site, then you'll need the
full server license.

Thanks Stefan,

I guess I will need the standard. All users will be required to login
and yes, I do need to keep track of sessions.

Id witangostore.com your site?

Re: Witango-Talk: What version of t4 server

2002-05-25 Thread Robert Shubert

Dan,

4.0.087 is really old. My site has the SP1 (4.05.020) full installer,
just download the appropriate trial. I also have the FTFs up to 4.05.047
available, just send me an email. I'm using 4.05.029 on production
servers myself.

Re: Witango-Talk: What version of t4 server

2002-05-25 Thread Robert Garcia

It sounds like preSP1, and preSP1 is super buggy. It was completely unusable
for me. I had to wait until SP1 until I switched from 3.6 to 4.
