[WiX-users] Problems with debugging the BootstrapperCore source files

2015-02-16 Thread Balaji R
Hi,

I'd faced an issue
http://windows-installer-xml-wix-toolset.687559.n2.nabble.com/Installation-doesn-t-progress-at-all-td7599147.html#a7599172

in installing a setup created by managed bootstrapper application. That is
my installation doesn't even get started.

So I've downloaded the Wix bootstrapper source code from here
https://wix.codeplex.com/releases/view/610859 and attached the
BootstrapperCore project to my boostrapper application.

While trying to build the attached project, below errors were thrown,

Error Details :

Error 2 Source file 'D:\Work\SVN\Trunk\Trunk_Build\Wix
Burn\BootStrapper\BootStrapperCore\GenerateUploadMetadata.cs' could not be
opened ('Unspecified error')core
Error 5 Metadata file 'C:\build\debug\x86\WixBuild.dll' could not be
found
Syncfusion.Installer.Bootstrapper

But,

The mentioned GenerateUploadMetadata.cs is found in the downloaded source
and also there is no reference present in the BootstrapperCore.csproj file
too.

Where could I found the WixBuild.dll ?

Note :

I've tried restarting visual studio and changed some build configuration
settings, but nothing helped.

I want to attach the BootstrapperCore source with my application to debug
the installer events, particularly DetectComplete() event.

Whether I'm doing the correct thing, or could anyone please suggest me a
proper way to sort out my issue ?

Regards,
Balaji

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I've already called the Plan() state in
DetectComplete() state, it is working fine. Plan state has been initiated in
DetectComplete() state.

But the problem here is, it is not always working fine, some times call to
the Plan() state doesn't working at all and the installation never
progresses.

Should i call Plan() in some other state ? or is there any other possible
ways to overcome this problem ?

[WiX-users] Installation doesn't progress at all

2015-02-06 Thread Balaji R
Hi,

We are using managed bootstrapper application for our installation, at some
times installation doesn't progress at all. While checking the installation
log from %temp% folder, it seems that after DetectComplete() state nothing
progresses. After DetectComplete(), there is plan, apply and execute states.
Attached the log file here.

While debugging, we can't look into the events to see what happening. After
DetectBegin() and DetectComplete() no events were executed.

Note : This type of installation failure not occurs all the time. At some
time we have stuck into this. Really don't know why this type of problem is
happening. Any ideas to resolve this issue ?

Regards,
Balaji R

[WiX-users] How to get the WixBundleLog value of LogPathVariable attribute ?

2015-01-05 Thread Balaji R
Hi,

The default value of LogPathVariable attribute of MSIPackageElement is
WixBundleLog_[PackageId]. From this I need to get the string value
assigned to WixBundleLog. I've also looked into the
BootstrapperApplicationData.xml but no use, there also the same variable
name only used.

So could you please explain,

1. How the values for WixBundleLog has been assigned ?
2. Can we get this value from bundle itself ?
3. If not, how to get the value of WixBundleLog value using Bootstrapper ?

Thanks,
Balaji

Hi,

While using the DisplayInternalUI=no attribute of MsiPackage element in

any attribute for ExePackage we can use for silent installation ?

I'd used InstallCommand=\q attributes of ExePackage, but still no use.

Is there any other attribute we can use for exe's silent installation in

[WiX-users] Uninstallation failure due to admin rights

2014-09-15 Thread Balaji R
Hi,

I'm using a wix custom Bootstrapper for installing and uninstalling my

uninstallation doesn't work properly due to registry access failure. But
using the same registry accessing code in an console application in admin
mode it works.

My question here is whether the uninstallation of my application (wix custom
Bootstrapper) runs in administrator mode ? or am I missing something to
access the registry keys during uninstallation ?

[WiX-users] Rollback custom actions on cancellation during install\uninstall

2014-09-02 Thread Balaji R
Hi,

I want to revert the custom action's execution if canceled by the user

But when i was in search of the solutions i came across that we can't access

Can anyone please suggest a proper way to rollback the custom action's

[WiX-users] Options for pausing the download and installation in wix custom BootStrapper

2014-08-25 Thread Balaji R
Hi,

I have a wix custom Bootstrapper application which will download and install
more than two msi in a client machine.

Is there any option for me to pause the download process if internet is
disconnected. If disconnected the application retries 3 times for re
connection, if failed again it starts rollback.

If so, is there any ways to pause the download before rollback starts.

Please share the kind ideas.
