[WiX-users] Property in Feature names, etc.
Can I use a property in a Feature title and description, a shortcut name etc. The value of the property is being set via a custom action before LaunchConditions. I've tried something like Feature Id=Complete Title=[APPNAME] Description=[APPNAME] Installation . but I just get a feature title [APPNAME], not the name of my application. [WiX-users] Don't remove changed files
Is there a way that I can prevent files that we have installed from being removed in an uninstall if the users have changed those files? [WiX-users] Multipe products
We currently have a product that is private labeled for multiple customers. The code is the same, the executables are just renamed and we use some different graphics. I'm trying to decide the best way to put the install script together for this. If I would use the same .wxs file for each build, I know I would need a different Guid for the product ID, and the upgrade code. Would I need a different Guid for each component as well? We do want the ability to have all the different products installed on our computers. I'm also still not clear on the best way to assign files to components. Its very unlikely that we would ever install a subset of our product, so my first thought is to only have a couple of components. All the examples I see though seem to have 1 component per file. We would have maybe a hundred components if we went this way. What benefit do I get from having that many components if we would never do a partial install? Re: [WiX-users] Can't install Wix in VS 2008
I'm just trying out WiX and still have a lot to learn about Visual Studio so I may have made a stupid mistake here. I can't get WiX to appear under Visual Studio 2008 standard. I have Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 installed. It seems to work fine for 2005. When I did the initial install I was never prompted for options, it just installed the software. When I run the installer a second time and click the change button I do not see and VS 2008 options. I do see 2 VS 2005 entries. Is there something I need to do to get the installer to see 2008?
