Re: [WiX-users] Wixstdba: Not invoking right msi for 32 bit platform in uninstallation
Hi, One update to understand issue properly. If we provide /log option during installation or un-installation, log file with following name will be created. log file name log file name_incremental number_msi name (on 32 bit) log file name_incremental number_msi name (on 64 bit) example: I am installing product on 32 bit platform. I provided /log setup.txt Then it creates setup.txt and setup_0_a32.txt log files. But during un-installation it creates setup.txt , *setup_0_b64.txt* and setup_1_a32.txt on *32 bit* platform. All the custom action and msi logging is logged in setup_0_b64.txt instead of setup_1_a32.txt This creates the impression that 64 bit msi is invoked during un-installation. In addition to this , on progress screen it shows the name of both 64 bit msi name as well as 32 bit msi name during un-installation. This behavior is not observed on 64 bit platform during un-installation. On 64 bit platform only two log files are created during un-installation. i.e setup.txt and setup_0_b64.txt Is this known/expected behavior? with regards, CD -- View this message in context: http://windows-installer-xml-wix-toolset.687559.n2.nabble.com/Wixstdba-Not-invoking-right-msi-for-32-bit-platform-in-uninstallation-tp7598029p7598509.html Sent from the wix-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Download BIRT iHub F-Type - The Free Enterprise-Grade BIRT Server from Actuate! Re: [WiX-users] Wixstdba: Not invoking right msi for 32 bit platform in uninstallation
In my stdba as shown above I have both 32 and 64 bit msi. I am able to install and uninstall my product on both platforms. Observation: When I install product, on UI, there is processing: label. Which shows the current processing module. During installation, it shows name of 32 bit msi and installation log file contain 32 bit msi name. During un-installation, it shows name of 64 bit msi instead of 32 bit. Which gives feeling that 64 bit msi is invoked instead of 32 bit msi during un-installation. and apart from default burn log file , two log files gets created. log file with 64 bit msi includes all log statements of msi and custom action. This behavior is observed only on 32 bit platform. with regards, CD -- View this message in context: http://windows-installer-xml-wix-toolset.687559.n2.nabble.com/Wixstdba-Not-invoking-right-msi-for-32-bit-platform-in-uninstallation-tp7598029p7598206.html Sent from the wix-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Download BIRT iHub F-Type - The Free Enterprise-Grade BIRT Server from Actuate! [WiX-users] Wixstdba: Not invoking right msi for 32 bit platform in uninstallation
Hi, I have created wixstdba for my installer. ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? Wix xmlns=http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi; xmlns:bal=http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/BalExtension; Bundle Name=Bootstrapper2 Version=1.0.0.0 Manufacturer=Microsoft UpgradeCode=a084a57e--448b-b38d-2b485ff65e6d BootstrapperApplicationRef Id=WixStandardBootstrapperApplication.RtfLicense / Chain MsiPackage Id =a32 SourceFile=a32.msi InstallCondition=NOT VersionNT Compressed=no DisplayInternalUI=no Vital=yes Description=32 bit/ MsiPackage Id =b64 SourceFile=b64.msi InstallCondition=VersionNT Compressed=no DisplayInternalUI=no Vital=yes Description =64 bit/ /Chain /Bundle /Wix There are two msi which are executed depending on underlying platform. Installation is working fine for both 32 bit and 64 bit msi. Respective msi is called and product is installed. In case of 32 bit machine during un-installation, processing text on ba dialog displays 64 bit msi name. And log file name which contains 64 bit msi name has all the log information. During installation it displays right version name in processing text (i.e. 32 bit msi name) and all the custom action logs added in log file which contains 32 bit msi name. Is wrong msi getting invoked for win 32 bit mc as per above chain? Do I need to add anything such that same msi will be invoked during un-installation too? Note: Installer is able to remove product from machine properly. with regards, CD -- View this message in context: http://windows-installer-xml-wix-toolset.687559.n2.nabble.com/Wixstdba-Not-invoking-right-msi-for-32-bit-platform-in-uninstallation-tp7598029.html Sent from the wix-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Download BIRT iHub F-Type - The Free Enterprise-Grade BIRT Server from Actuate!
