AFAIK, the Express SKUs support both XML IntelliSense and open-with behavior, so it's doable. FWIW, I like that idea, simply because that's the only VS integration feature I really like to use. I think that's where the big productivity gain comes in with the Intellisense support you get for WiX schema. I usually copy the schema file by hand, but having some MSI support for it would be nice. You also have to associate the WiX extensions with the XML editor, which I also usually do by hand. C# express doesn’t support the same add-in model as the paid versions of VS. I’m pretty sure that Votive will not work on C# express.
