I was trying to think of one, and realized I'd gone over the same ground 6 years ago when the San Francisco Giants played the Kansas City Royals in the World Series. I expect you're right. When I first checked the IPG, it was only showing 3 nights (which seemed to imply, in a "winner is first to three matches" tournament, that somebody sweeps). But after last night's game, where that is now impossible, I see that the IPG has been updated to _7_ nights, which is the most matches possible. This coming Monday, January 6, 2020, is the 28th birthday of World News Now! (The Interactive Program Guide says it started on Jan. 5, but we know how unreliable *that* is ;-)). The 28th is a special birthday because it (*usually) means that a full leap-year cycle has happened. So we know that WNN started on a MONDAY back in 1992! No, it's not the presence of "Way-too-early Christmas decorations" stories, it's always the WNN ADS that tell you when the season has started. Will Ganss was recently picking brackets on WNN based on MASCOTS (:-)) (Wasn't there an ancient WNN tradition of something similar?). So, I was thinking, once again, has anyone come up with good names for the in-between stages of March Madness? I mean, there's the Elite Eight, but what happens when one game finishes, leaving Seven? Is that the SAVAGE SEVEN? It couldn't be Sweet, because that's Sixteen. I suppose, for contrast, you could go with the SOUR SEVEN, but that seems a bit disappointing to reach ;-). He was showing some of them today, in addition to his famous "smoldering head-shot". I don't think there has been a WNN anchor, male or female, who has achieved this before. There have certainly been cases where anchors have (seemingly) shot laser beams out of their eyes, causing whomever they are looking at to dissolve into a mass of protoplasm ;-). Presumably in the 2:30 ET block, which I don't get anymore on Mondays since my cable company decided that two ABC affiliates were one too many (grumble). Oddly, the other affiliate now has a local office in town, with a vintage CONTROL PANEL in the front window (perhaps WNN itself flowed though it at some point!). Curiousities of the Anchor Culture?
Janai Norman was "making it rain" with SCRIPT PAGES earlier this week. Now, maybe she was just using that WNN-anchor-ingenuity to take advantage of the materials available to her. Or *maybe* it's a time-honored custom, related to a point in the distant past when a news-person was so taken with feeling that he/she used the script-pages he/she was carrying to "make it rain" upon a practitioner of exotic entertainment. At which point, a miracle occurred and an impromptu AUDITION happened (of course, the news-person's BOSS was also present). And so, a BRILLIANT ANCHORING CAREER was thus launched. World News Now is now the 60 Minutes of overnight news shows?
For both Thanksgiving and the Friday after, the 3:00 ET block was repeated at 3:30. And the *POLKA* was played at 2:56 ET, rather than the usual 3:26 ET! So, at least in my area, there was only an hour of content (down from 90 minutes). The recent NHK Documentary, "Mega Crisis: Forecasting Super Typhoons", had a 2015 clip from WNN, featuring Kendis Gibson and Reena Ninan, along with their 2015-era WNN Mugs!
