Re: [WSG] Could someone please do a little testing for me?
I have posted a screenshot on: http://free.hostdepartment.com/f/fnbeta/docs/images/screenshot-ie5.0-www-flemingclinics-com-au.jpg The menu popup is shifted too far to the left. I'll have to look at your code in abit, I'm afraid. Hi all,I need to do a small test in IE5, but I don't have access to a copy of it.And since the bit I need to test is the hover action on the menus,BrowserCam is not going to do the trick I think. So could someone who has IE5 please have a look athttp://www.flemingclinics.com.au and run the mouse over the menu bar at theside? I need to know where the sub-menus are appearing, since my client (whois running IE5 has said that they are appearing over the main menu bar. I'vemade some code changes, and I want to see if I've shifted it far enough. Andfrankly, I would prefer to do it without resorting to asking my client, since every time I talk to him I'm faced with the urge to smack him aroundthe head lately. *sigh*Cheers,Seona.---Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).Version: 6.0.576 / Virus Database: 365 - Release Date: 30/01/2004*The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/*

A bit more info: Same results in ie 5.5 sp2 as 5.01 sp2. ie 4.01 sp1 (not that you asked, but for educational purposes :~), the menu is really mixed up: http://free.hostdepartment.com/f/fnbeta/docs/images/screenshot-ie4-01-www-flemingclinics-com-au.jpg Martin E. - Original Message - From: Martin E To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2004 10:39 AM Subject: Re: [WSG] Could someone please do a little testing for me? Re: [WSG] Overflow scrollbars
Hello, scrollbar-track-color: #whatever; works in IEx, and some other browsers (Preferences... "enable scrollbar colors"), but it's an IE propriety - and it does not validate XHTML Strict. Having said this, I do like the colorizing of scrollbars, as it makes for a "branding" of the site with the browser itself. Re: [WSG] Making my menus work across multiple browsers
Hello Seona,I haven't looked into the far-to-the-right sub menu issue yet, but I can fix your validation problem. Your DOCTYPE is incorrectly written:Current:!DOCTYPE xhtml PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"Needs to be:!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" Notice the key word right after the !DOCTYPE declaration - xhtml. It needs to be html. (And getting rather alliterative in my subjectline... Sorry...)I have a navigation bar with sub-menus based on the list structure and runprimarily by CSS. The problem I am having is making it work in both IE andany real browser (using Mozilla for testing). If I get it to that thesubmenus are correctly positioned in Mozilla, then in IE they are floatinghalfway across the screen and impossible to select. If I get them correctlypositioned in IE, then in Mozilla they sit over the main navigation bar andso are impossible to see, let alone select. The page can be viewed at:http://d1075184.u42.b-20.net/The CSS can be viewed at:http://d1075184.u42.b-20.net/clinics.cssIncidentally, I have the CSS validating just fine (which I'm quite proud of,given how new I am to this *grin*) and I have the page itself almostvalidating. According to the W3C validator, there are only 3 problems leftand I can't figure out how to fix them. If anyone wants to take the time tohave a look at that and point me in the right direction, it would beappreciated. Funnily enough, the problems seem to be with the codeDreamweaver put in when I asked it to make a new file that was XHTMLcompliant. *shrug* Go figure.Cheers,Seona.---Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).Version: 6.0.573 / Virus Database: 363 - Release Date: 28/01/2004*The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/*
