[wsjt-devel] WSPR frequency protection range in WSJTX

2015-02-17 Thread Claude Frantz
Hi !

The protection range implemented in WSJTX does not match the range used
in real practice on the 30 m band. Probably also on other bands, which
I'm not using now. In contrast, this behavior does not allow me to use a
range used for JT65 traffic.

What is the reason why ?

Greg,

I'm running the latest devel release 4969 on Ubuntu 15.04. I do a custom
command line install, and use LWM as my window manager. I pull in 2 font
packages ttf-ubuntu-font-family, and fonts-droid. I also install the
fontconfig package, and use a basic .font.conf.

The fonts render perfect on my machine. In fact, the fonts that are being
displayed within WSJTX, are the fonts that, I think, the QT GUI pulls in.
That being:

San Serif Normal 9
Courier 10 Pitch Bold 10

This is my .fonts.conf:

tconfig>

rgb

true

hintslight

true

lcddefault

As far as I know/remember, I have never seen any font rendering issues, on
any WSJTX devel release, that I have used within the Ubuntu environment.

The WSJTX GUI looks great on my Ubuntu machine. The fonts are clean, bold,
and very sharp. In my experience, better than Windows.

I hope this feedback offers some insight to your font issues.

[wsjt-devel] problem with wsjt-x v1.5.0

2015-02-17 Thread fly_ul
Running windows 8.1, ham radio deluxe v 6.2.8.330, kenwood ts-590s
The major problem is the software gets confused when running split.  Sometimes
it will go the VFO b (the split frequency) when opening.  Sometimes it sets VFO
a = VFO b.  Sometimes it drops vfo b completely.
The small problem  - The band activity list is not always sorted correctly.
You ask for problem reports and this is mine.
Let me know if I can help.

Hi Jeff,

The major problem is the software gets confused when running split.
Sometimes it will go the VFO b (the split frequency) when opening.
Sometimes it sets VFO a = VFO b. Sometimes it drops vfo b completely.
The application doesn't differentiate between VFO A and VFO B on rigs
that have equal functionality for both VFOs. The VFO that gets the Rx
frequency is the current one and the other VFO will get the split Tx
frequency.

When you say it sets VFO A equal to VFO B, do you mean when you start
the program or do you mean at some point during operating when your Tx
DF is outside of 1500Hz - 2000Hz?

Can you clarify what you mean by "drops the vfo b completely"?

The small problem - The band activity list is not always sorted
correctly.
The band activity data is not sorted other than by receive period. Until
recently the decoder processed each mode in turn in dual JT65+JT9 mode,
this is no longer the case as the two modes are decoded in parallel. The
order of the decodes is strictly the order the decodes are extracted
from the audio data. There is special case, the signal on your current
Rx offset, if there is one that can be decoded, is always given priority
and will appear before any other decodes for that mode.

This strategy is all about displaying decodes as soon as is possible.

You ask for problem reports and this is mine.

Let me know if I can help.

[wsjt-devel] UPDATE WSJT-X 1.5-Dev r4966 Font Issues (Linux)

2015-02-17 Thread ki7mt
Hi Bill, Joe,

I built a new Ubuntu install this morning, and I'm happy to say every
thing is working perfectly. I still don't know what the root cause was,
but my primary Ubuntu partition is working as expected. I must of had a
font corruption or rendering issue somewhere.

Sorry for the false alarm.

[wsjt-devel] problem with wsjt-x v1.5.0

2015-02-17 Thread fly_ul
...snip...
When you say it sets VFO A equal to VFO B, do you mean when you start
the program or do you mean at some point during operating when your Tx
DF is outside of 1500Hz - 2000Hz?

Can you clarify what you mean by "drops the vfo b completely"?
...snip...
If I close the program with the tx/rx box in the 1500-2000Hz window, it opens
with no split mode and vfo a = 14,076. If I turn split on and move the txrx box
to 2300Hz it stops split mode and set vfo b to 140756,5.  If i set split mode
both vfo a and vfo b are 14.0765.  If I reset everything to have the txrx box
between 1500 - 200Hz and go down to 200 hz  split drops and vfo b is 1407450.
If i clcik on the 20 meter selector box and click the radio will go to 14.076
and beep and go back to 14.0745.
I hope that is clearer than mud.  Basically the radio goes to the offset
frequency and stays.
