Re: [wsjt-devel] possible MSK144 auto sequencing issue v2.0 rc-3 ?
Thanks Joe. In this case I am almost certain the 73 message came from a third station (the df was different and the station I was trying to work continued to call me with his original message on the original df.) If in fact messages such as "TU JOHN 73" are intended to cause the auto sequence function to advance I see this as a possible issue while running MSK144 on a crowded channel. On another note I did manage to complete two MSK144 qso's today in contest mode while using a "/R" call. Thanks to you and the rest of the team for pushing thru the enhancements. (My self and two other stations also experienced some "odd issues" and if I can either work out how to replicate them or clearly explain them I will pass them onto the list.) 73 Mark Spencer VE7AFZ netsyn...@gmail.com > On Oct 21, 2018, at 11:33 AM, Joe Taylor wrote: > > Hi Mark, > >> On 10/21/2018 2:07 PM, Mark Spencer VE7AFZ wrote: >> Hi. [wsjt-devel] Recurring problem with WSJT-X v2.0.0-rc3
My rig is up 24/7. Quite often after running overnight, or sitting idle during the day, the “Decode” button will just stay on. Typically when this happens I don’t get any decodes showing up in JTAlert. The fix is fairly simple, I just have to kill WSJT-X and restart it. No error is thrown by the application, at least none I have seen. My system is fairly new and robust so I don’t believe it’s being caused by a lack of computing resources. I have seen the problem in earlier versions but it would be days or weeks between occurrences. This time it’s a once or twice daily occurrence. Aside from just letting the program run doing nothing but decode (no Tx ops) I have no idea how to cause it. Tx still works with the Decode button stuck, and that’s probably normal. 73 __ Dan – K4SHQ ___ wsjt-devel mailing list wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel

Re: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X & JTSDK future?
Hi folks-- Thanks for the additional tips -- my earlier notes were from a rather hasty real-time effort. I'll combine the additional commentary, clean up the notes, and try it again to validate. I forget why I issued cmake as sudo. Probably a perms issue at one point, most certainly my fault since I was also installing the additional packages ad hoc. Best to do that in a separate window or as a separate pre-build step. I've got a better grasp on it at this point. It would be easy enough to simply install the .deb, but it's gratifying (and a good learning exercise) to compile one's amateur radio apps from source also. 73, KD0KZE / Paul > On October 21, 2018 at 3:03 AM Bill Somerville wrote: > > > On 21/10/2018 04:01, Paul Bramscher wrote: > > These appeared to be necessary dependencies: > > g++ > > gfortran-6 > > libfftw3-dev > > libqt5x11extras5-dev > > lib-qt5serialport > > lib-qt5serialport-dev > > libtool > > libudev-dev > > libusb-1.0.0-dev > > python-pkgconfig > > python-pyqt5 > > qtmultimedia5-dev > > texinfo > > > > sudo cmake -D CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER="/usr/bin/g++" -D > > CMAKE_Fortran_COMPILER="/usr/bin/gfortran-6" -D > > CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=~/.local . > > > > sudo cmake --build . --target install > > > > Possibly necessary also: > > > > python-pyqt5.qtmultimedia > > > Hi Paul, > > you may find these comments helpful. > > 1) there are no Python dependencies for WSJT-X, > 2) there should be no need to install both a -dev and run tie version of > a package, installing the -dev package alone will also install the run > time components, > 3) you can avoid having to install the large texinfo package by > configuring the WSJT-X build to skip the build of the manpages (-D > WSJT_SKIP_MANPAGES), > 4) never run a CMake configuration with root privileges, also in your > case as your install prefix is in your home directory you so you do not > need root privileges for the CMake build command either, > 5) CMake should discover the compilers it needs by itself, > 6) you should create a build directory and run your CMake commands with > that as the current working directory, building in the source tree is > strongly discouraged. [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X v 2.0.0-rc3 8a1244 - MSK144 CW ID
Good morning all, Running rc3 on MSK144 and have CW ID set to 0. No CW ID sent (which is correct), but transmitter is left keyed for the duration of the CW ID period every 10 minutes. Non-critical issue that can create confusion as to whether the application locked up in transmit mode. This action is contrary to the expectation of no CW ID set, no CW ID transmit time on. Re: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X & JTSDK future?
Good morning Linux WSJT-X fans, Awesome discussion going on in this thread, using all the feedback so far I've gone and hacked up some build scripts for RC3 on a couple different Linux distros (Debian and Solus). First some banter and then, the scripts. 1) Scripts use Paul's cmake flags and attempt to be compliant with Bill's statement on build permissions. You do still need to run the scripts as sudo to install dependencies up top but I've reduced permissions down below where the actual build takes place. 2) Scripts are tested and working on stock Debian 9 (AWS t2.micro instance), Raspbian Stretch (this is for you Evariste, I compiled it on my Pi 3+), and Solus 3. (my Dell laptop). Bill will probably be able to find several more superfluous packages in my script(s) beyond what Paul has mentioned but those can always be cleaned up later on, I just want to get something up and running to share with everyone ASAP. 3) What is Solus? It's a new, cheerfully minimalist Linux distro that uses neither .deb nor .rpm files, so there is no other way to get WSJT-X RC3 running on it other than to build from source. I had been using Mint for over five years and while Stan is considering migrating to it, I've moved completely off because of some very bad experiences upgrading to Mint 19 a couple months ago (particularly the new "Timeshift" feature which bludgeoned my hard drive almost beyond recognition). Hopefully Stan has better luck than I did. Meanwhile I plan on contacting the Solus devs to see if they will consider packaging WSJT-X in their own ".eopkg" format for when 2.0 is officially released, and if not, I'll probably move over to the Arch Linux distro family and write/maintain a WSJT-X 2.0 PKGBUILD for the AUR (Arch User Repository) if someone else doesn't beat me to the punch.
