[wsjt-devel] split frequency logging

2018-01-16 Thread Dan Malcolm
I am running WSJT-X v1.8.0 with “Hold Tx Freq” checked, and allow Rx frequency
to float. So most of my QSO’s have Rx frequencies different from my Tx
frequencies. During normal logging operations, the differences are captured,
as they should be. Every once in a while I will need to reconstruct a QSO for
one reason or another. Fortunately not that often. When I do I use ALL.TXT
because that is the only record of the QSO I have. WSJT-X logs are only
completed if log a QSO in near real time.

My problem is that only the Rx frequency offset is recorded in ALL.TXT. I can
live with it, and it’s not a huge problem, but are there any plans to include
audio frequency offset in the Tx data entries in ALL.TXT?

That change is in beta testing for JTAlert right now. And it's working

Exactly. That's why this is a development question. The ADIF fields are
there, and apparently not being used, or I missed a setting somewhere.

I agree in principle with Karl. Too much automation is not a good thing.
But as long as frequency is being logged, it should be done with the correct
frequencies. If the WSJT-X developers don't want to deal with it fine.
Just say so and I'll continue manual corrections. Not a big deal, but was
curious.

The ADIF specification defines a FREQ field containing the TX frequency in
MHz and an additional FREQ_RX field containing the RX frequency in MHz, in
the case of split operation.

It wasn't "too long ago" when the spark people grumbled about CW. Then the
CW people grumbled about AM Phone. Then the AM Phone people grumbled about
SSB.

If you don't like it, don't do it - stick with CW and SSB, they aren't going
away anytime soon and a good number of us here enjoy those as well as these
modes.

This isn't really a software development question, however and this list is

Dear all,

it is not too long ago and we commonly used to run our qso's in person
(cw/ssb) and log on paper.

Do we realy need to get all radio contacts fully automated?

Just go to the shack in the morning and activate the PC with all add-on
automated software?

I got a radio licence, not my PC -

[wsjt-devel] Split frequency logging

2017-11-22 Thread Dan Malcolm
WSJT-X is pretty good at running QSO’s with ‘split’ frequency operation.
JTAlert is essential for smooth QSO tracking and logging. What I am missing is
logging the separate frequencies for a split QSO. I suspect that most ops
don’t track the different Tx and Rx frequencies, but I do. Perhaps the data
manager in me. WSJT-X v18 display the frequencies set for Rx and Tx, but they
don’t seem to propagate through JTAlert 2.10.4 to Log4OM. The Tx frequency
does and I can manually fix the Rx frequency which is just a copy of the Tx
when logged.

Am I missing some setting? If not are there any plans to propagate actual Rx
frequencies separate from Tx?
