[X2Go-User] x2go to access Linux - issues with graphical updates

2021-03-18 Thread Anonymous Japhering
X2Go Client v. 4.1.1.1 (Qt - 5.9.5)
Guest Linux Mint  5.4.0-66-generic #74-Ubuntu SMP x86_64
Host   Linux Mint  5.4.0-67-generic #75~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP x86_64

Guest is where the issue is occurring.. host is where I'm working from ( x2go
client is running)

On Guest,  I open the Linux Mint  update manager.  If I need to do nothing more
than approve update,
everything works as expected.    However, if I want to change software sources
or perform a version
up it fails.   Both items require a secondary window to be open, which doesn't
happen, at least in
x2goclient.

Computer in question has no monitor and is only accessed through x2go (my
display port adaptor died).

Thoughts or suggestions ?

Aside from account sharing being bad security practice and a bad idea in
general, yes, some desktop environments will be more suitable than
others for this.

Of course, running X2GoClient in Published Application Mode (with
--autostart to start the desired application right after the
X2GoClient's login to the X2GoServer) would help avoiding this problem
altogether, because then no remote desktop environment is involved, but
this mode comes with autoresume enabled by default, meaning, if there is
exactly one session in a suspended state, this one will be resumed
instead of a new one being created. To avoid this, you can run
X2GoClient with --no-autoresume as an additional parameter - then it
will always prompt you if you want to resume or create a new one if at
least one suspended session is detected.

Kind Regards,
Stefan Baur
