 J'ai trouvé un bug.
Quand je passe en mode texte (control+alt+F1 par exemple),
Xfree86 plante
après quelques secondes. Et je ne peu plus redémarrer
startx.

 Help!

Subject: [XFree86] Fatal Server Error

I am running Vector distribution and I am getting the
following error.

Could not init font path element unix:/7100, removing from
list!

 Fatal Server Error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

I tried the resolution that another post had suggested but
did not work, here is that fix.

 chmod a+r /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias
 service xfs restart

The first line goes through no problem, but when I attempt
the service xfs restart I get:

 /sbin/service: line 81: /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs: No such
file or directory.

When I reboot the machine and try startx I get the same
error.

 Anyone have any suggestions.

 Thanks

Hi

I am having Fatal Server Error - No screens found problem on

The log file has the following relevant entries:

(II) Primary device is : PCI 00:02:0
(WW) NV: No matching device section for instance (Bus ID
PCI:0:2:0) found
(EE) No devices detected

It would seem the problem is down to the difference between

How can this be best dealt with?

Re: [Newbie]can't get 1280x1024 resolution to work

2002-07-06 Thread vizion communication

ok I have an nvidea chip integrated onmy motherboard MSI
KN7420 Pro. I just could not get X windows working on
FreeBSD 4.5. In the end I gave up for the time being and
have put in an old Matrox millenium card.

MSI's distributors in S Ca.. have not been much help - and
do not seem to care very much either.

So we will steer clear of MSI motherboards in the future.

Subject: [Newbie]can't get 1280x1024 resolution to work

 Hi,

 I have a KDS-190p monitor and NVIDIA TnT2 M64 32MB AGP
video card and
 I am running XFree86 4.2.0 on RedHat Linux 7.3.

When I tried installing linux the only screen resolutions
that were
clear were those for 1024x768 and below, but the monitor
supports up
 to 1600x1200.

I eventually tried editing the XF86Config-4 file and added
two modes
 for 1280x1024:

 # 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz, 91.15 kHz hsync
 Modeline 1280x1024 157.5 1280 1344 1504 1728
   1024 1025 1028 1072 +HSync
+VSync
 # 1280x1024 @ 74 Hz, 78.85 kHz hsync
 Modeline 1280x1024 1351280 1312 1456 1712
   1024 1027 1030 1064 +HSync
+VSync

Both of these modes are listed in the manual as factory
preset modes
and so I thought would be safe to try. The first mode
caused a fuzzy
display, but the second seems to work better.

I would like to try another set of timings for the
1280x1024 mode but
there aren't any more listed in my manual and I am afraid
I will
 damage the monitor.

Has anoyone has this problem with the KDS VS0-190p monitor
or does
anyone have any suggestions on safe values I can use to
adjust the
timing of the monitor to get a clear display?

 Thanks,
 Bill
