HI,

I am trying to compile Xfree86 4.8.0 for ARM platform and getting into
error at first step itself. Can anyone help me go further.

Here is the error log

Hi

I'm currently building xf-4_6_99_20 on MacOSX 10.4 PowerPC

programs/xkbcomp/Makefile has all the rules for SUBDIRS (Makefiles,  
depends, install, ...) but no rules to build in there.


In other words, Makefiles are generated in SUBDIRS but install choke  
there because nothing has been built.

Hello I have Red Hat Linux 7.2 I installed it on a new
laptop, and am having a error upon logging in which states
that my ATI Radeon 9000 card does not match the
compatibility with it's drivers, as I had to pick one of
the closest matching graphics cards from the list.  Do you
have any advice.

Keep up the great work. Thanks very much.

I am sorry to bother you like this, I really am. I did a fair amount of googling myself silly on this  could not quite match what some others got with what I was seeing. I doubt this is a bug. I hope it is not me being a bonehead but I would not be surpsied if it turned out that way. I was hoping you would have mercy on me  give me just two minutes worth of advice.

Attached are two plain text files that you may want to review. This is a whitebox PC with a Sony Trinitron MultsiScan 17sfII display.

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. If you are ever in Portland Oregon and need some one to buy you a good microbrew or capucino, I am your man.

 Hi,
 
 
 I am trying to set up a mythtv box with a remote that comes with the TV card 
 that I have.
 
 After installing appropriate drivers in the kernel about half of the keys on 
 the remote report events to X. I have confirmed this with the xev program.
 
 The other half of the keys give no response at all under xev, as though I 
 hadn't pressed the key.
 
 However, if i drop to a vc, and run the showkey program, all the keys on the 
 remote report scan codes.
 
 For instance,
 
 
 showkey reports the source key as 00 83 8b but no event happens under X. 
 All the keys that do not work report similar 3 byte codes using showkey.
 
 So, my question is, how can I get these events into X?
 
 
 Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

i am sending this again
the last time apparently i did not
supply enough info
i have been working on this for two days
reading and such
but to no avail
this is on a redhat 8.0 box
reloaded(through an upgrade) the system
without formatting, just trying to over write
i am able to logon to a shell prompt
but not able to start the xserver
can you tell me how to go about fixing this problem?
 at the bottom of the log it states:

could this be locked?
where is this file?
just thought
i put in another smaller hard drive
reloaded red hat
and it works fine x and all
i need to get that other drive/system online

I'm installing Redhat 9 on an SGI 550 with the video card listed below.
The error that I keep getting is: no screens found


The version of XFree86 you are using: 4.3.0-2
The Operating System and its version number: Linux Redhat 9
The video hardware that you are using: Cirrus Logic GD543x
This stops XFree86 from starting up. How can I correct this problem?

Do you really have a fixed frequency monitor?  If you
do, you'll need a custom modeline.  Most likely, you have
a multisync monitor like everyone else and you need to
enter the correct horizontal and vertical sync ranges
found in your monitor manual.

   I believe the i845 wasn't supported until XFree86 4.3.0 (you
are running 4.2.0).  You should probably upgrade to at least 4.3.0.
4.4.0 is the newest XFree86 version.

What graphics chipset are you using. X tries to use the i740 driver, but

Hi All

Sorry to trouble you, it seem I can't find the right write-up about what
I am looking for ?
I have just install Linux Red-hat on VMware on the host of Windows XP...
Installation went through alright...but when I reboot and told I wanted 
GUI Display and not the Text Display it boot and when it came to boot
the GUI display it flashed several times and then error came up and said
their was a display driver error... I look and the drivers it install
and selected on installation and it is the same Geforce 2 gts
(generic)..The strange thing is I have the same graphics card on another
system and no problems when booting the GUI display ...
Can You Help Me Please...
