Re: [XFree86] XFree86.log flooded with Not loading .note.GNU-stack

For more information see Kernel Notes at the bottom of
 http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/release-notes/.

This explains the message.

/proc/sys/kernel/exec-shield does not exist on my system so my kernel does not
support exec-shield. I don't think I need it thus I won't waste time tryiing
to enable this feature.

Leaves the question:
Can I tell X not to log this message?

(I run a Debiansystem and have bad experiences not using the
maintainers-packages. That's why I can't use the original binaries from
XFree86.org.)

[XFree86] XFree86.log flooded with Not loading .note.GNU-stack

2004-02-18 Thread NUKE THEM
Hi,

this message appears over 500 times in my XFree86.log.
I googled and found I'm not the only one with this messageflood.
But I found no responses telling:

What does this message mean?
How can I solve the problem?
How can I tell the X to do a last message repeated xyz-times instead of
making my log unreadable?

The message is generate because you are using a binary which I suspect was
compiled on a Fedora Linux system (or a system with the exec-shield patch I
think) and running that binary on a non-Fedora (or non-exec-shield) system.
