When I first setup xmail, it was open relay and it has used by spammers

it would be nice have the ability to let users modify their

[xmail] About Valasek's WAI

2003-03-13 Thread Serbulent Sertoglu
Sorry for asking this question here but I could neither join list for
WAI nor contact personally to Valasek.

I setup and configured WAI and now everything seems ok. The only problem
is reading mails using Jmail. I receive ther error:

jmail.POP3 error '8000'
This function is not included in this version of jmail.
/xmadmin/user/mail.asp, line 32
My version is 4.3 personal edition as WAI requires. I searched Support
page for this error and it says there is problem with jmail that it
cannot connect to server. Server is up and running and there is no
problem using it any other way. I checked the WAI code and all
parameters passed to jmail.pop3 connect are true.

Anyone can guess what the problem is?

[xmail] Local domain to remote domain

2003-03-13 Thread Alex Young
What is the best way for forwarding email from a local domain to a
remote domain?

The entries I have in my Linux setup is:

@domain.co.uk   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I know this just maps who it is sent to originally and forwards it to
the same user @some.isp.co.uk. How would I do the same thing through
xmail? The aliases.tab file is just for aliasing domains with local
domains, so that wont be any good will it.

Thanks,
Alex

[xmail] Re: XMail-WAI.NET features discussion

2003-03-13 Thread Alex Young

Hi,
the only 3 things I found lacking in WAI where;
1. No easy to use auto responder for the low level users, so I added one
using an existing auto responder filter.
2. The ability to display html email correctly.
3. When you compose a message the ability to add an attachment.

Other than that WAI was, and still is superb. I would love to see these
features in WAI.NET.

Other features which would be nice but not necessary are;
1. Easy to change the GUI. Either a different header/footer or some kind
of inc file that defines how the interface looks. Custom ones for each
domain would also be good so you can make the email interface match the
site it belongs to.
2. Automatically setup the postmaster@ accounts with the alias * so its
also the catch-all.
3. A field in the user info for an alternative email address.
4. Ability for people to request their L/P being emailed to their
alternative email address.
5. Ability to edit the servers.tab file through WAI. Maybe have
predefines options to aid setup by people who aren't sure what they are
doing. (like me when I started)

Alex

| What we need is a .NET assembly or XML Webservice that offers
| an easy-to-use
| interface to all of the CTRL functions and common tasks (eg. user
| management, change password, list domains, etc...)

My original intent was to create web service, that can be used remotely,
instead of connecting remotely directly to 6017, which may be blocked by
firewall, etc.

Now I think that the .NET assembly would be better for performance
reasons.

| Now I'm ready for the next big thing, an XMail WebMail
| Interface, fully
| written in ASP.NET. I'm working every day on it since last week, and
| already have the core functionality running, that is, listing
| and displaying
| the mailbox contents, and messages, even fully formatted html
| messages.
| This all in an outlook-style interface, very user friendly.
| Now I see your message on this list about your upcoming
| WAI.NET, and the
| fact that it won't contain a webmail client. No problem thus, because
| that's exactly what I am working on at the moment!

Excellent, we can join it together.

| But of course, the foundation of it all is a solid .NET
| implementation of
| the CtrlClnt, so can you please e-mail or point me to a URL
| where I can
| download the code you've already written, so I can see
| whether and where I
| can help, and give suggestions in an early stage.

Some my .NET XMail files you can download at

[xmail] Re: relay record in log file

2003-03-13 Thread Frederik Gallon

ERELAY is telling you that you are not allowing messages to be relayed.
Someone is trying to use your server to propagandate (likely) spam.

It's telling you that you are safe ;-)

[xmail] relay record in log file

2003-03-13 Thread wyq
Hi group:

I find many lines in my smtp log file with the record like this:
---
"" "299.net" "151.204.101.45" "2003-03-13 04:24:32" \
"aol.com""" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" \
"S82CC" "RCPT=ERELAY" "" "0" ""
^
   here shouldn't be null,right?
--

I had setup "MRV" in servers.tab and also "MRV" in user.tab,
and had clear smtprelay.tab.
But from the log file, why it seems no relay autentication?
And does "0" mean no data be sent?
