[xmail] Mailbox Size

2003-08-01 Thread Michael Harrington

Two very simple questions, and I can not seem to find an answer in the
documentation.

1. Is there a way to specify a mailbox to have an unlimited size?
2. What is the maximum size possible for a mailbox?

That's it! Can anyone answer them?

2003-08-01 Thread Dan Clouse

Hi;

a friend of mine is running a fairly recent version of Xmail server, but
installed a list of Windows "security patches" this morning. Since then, the
POP3 service has been broken. I can telnet to smtp, so that service is up. I
cannot telnet to POP3.

He uses WAI and can confirm that there are messages in the queue, and he can
send messages. To me, this sounds like the pop3 service cannot start. There
is a message in the error log when he reboots the server that says:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( XMail ) cannot be found. The
local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message
DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following
information is part of the event: Socket bind error

Anyone encountering a similar problem or have an easy solution?

[xmail] Re: Question to Davide: 3rd party files in XMail structure

2003-08-01 Thread Alex Young

When I added an autoresponder to your WAI 2.x system I made it use an
autores.dat file in %MAILROOT%\domains\domain.tld\user\

I figured it would be the easiest way for me to do it if I ever needed
to move XMail to WAI to different locations.

Subject: [xmail] Question to Davide: 3rd party files in XMail structure

Hello,

I have question to Davide, as author: what do you think about third
party files in XMail folder structure?

I would need for my WAI to store some user data, which are too big for
user variables (ie. text for autoresponder or signature). So, my idea is
that I would write the text to some file, ie.
%MAILROOT%\domains\domain.tld\user\autoreply.wai and use it.

What do you think about this idea, also with your future plans of
further development of XMail? What filenames should be used etc?

Another solution is that I would manage my own independent data store.
The main problem here is with deleted users and/or domains. When someone
would delete user or domain other way than trough my interface, the
supporting data files would not be deleted etc.

Davide,

I was wonder if it would be possible to support dns entries in the

address, but I would like to allow them to relay through my main server.
Right now, every time they get a new address I need to change the ip in the
smtprelay.tab file.

Thanks

Are there any specific file permissions I need to set?

Yes, postmaster is a real user. It shows itself to have messages

2003-08-01 Thread Rob Arends

Tim, Below is an email I sent to the list recently.
It will help you understand the construction of the command structure of the
control interface.
You can either use the program ctrlclnt.exe or telnet to the server on port
6017.
Anyway see below for the telnet option, it was for someone wanting to
redirect old_user/domain to new_user/domain.
Look at the readme, search for XMAIL ADMIN PROTOCOL to get a description of
all the other commands you can use to create the .tab files you have
described in your previous emails.

Rob :-)
