[xmail] Problem with Xmail and ASSP

2012-04-12 Thread Stig Østvang

Hi, all.

I'm running xmail 1.27, ASSP 1.9.1.3 and Telaen.org 1.1.2 webmail.

Before I installed ASSP, I didn't have any problems with xmail and
Telaen, but after I installed ASSP I can't send mail using the
webmail. It's set up to use SMTP. Unless I have used a regular mail
client shortly before. If I close down my regular email client and
wait for a while (I don't know exactly how long I have to wait), I
can't send mail using the webmail. Reading mail is no problem. I have
enabled SMTP logging in the webmail, bur I can't really see why it
fails, so I'm hoping that some of the other users using ASSP as well
have any suggestions.

When I have a successful delivery, I get the following output:

[xmail] Problem with XMail on NetBSD-4

2008-01-19 Thread David Lord
Hi

I've just been setting up a new server running NetBSD-4 and copied my
existing 1.25-pre25 NetBSD 3.1 directory and binaries.

'telnet localhost 25'

Allows me to connect and accepts a test email.

All attempts at using the interface hostname or ip address get a
connection refused.

I've since done a fresh install of 1.25 which dumps core on attemp to
start using supplied script /etc/rc.d/xmail and if started with my
own script again can connect ok to localhost but not by hostname or
ip.

Log file entries smtp, smail, filters(glst, sa and fprot) look normal
for local delivered email.

NFS, Samba, Ftp and Web servers all seem to be running ok (both NFS
and Samba will eventually be removed), also default install of
postfix accepted remote connections ok.

Any ideas to get some debugging out of it (Md option is already
enabled).

David

[xmail] Problem with xmail not resending emails

Can anyone please explain to me what the following slog means?
I can verify that the xmail only tries to send two times. What can be
the cause of this?

[xmail] Problem with XMail, POP and all Webmail Software

2005-06-16 Thread Dan Porter

I have discovered a problem when using Xmail with POP and Webmail.

I have had this problem using different webmail software, including:
-Horde
-Ilohamail
-umpl_xmail
-dwmail

Since the problem occurs in so many different types of software, it may
be something with Xmail, and it may be something with POP.

The Problem: When you click to view an email, from your webmail inbox,
the wrong email is shown. When you click to delete an email, from your
webmail inbox, the wrong email is deleted.

How to generate the problem:
-Have a few emails in your inbox, log into your webmail and list out
your inbox.
-From another window, or Outlook, or somewhere else, send yourself an email.
-Wait a minute or so to let your server process the email.
-Click on an email in your inbox. If the wrong email shows up, you have
created the same error as me.
OR, delete an email in your inbox. If the wrong email is deleted you
have experienced the same problem.

What causes the problem:
It seems like an index problem. Lets say you have three emails in your
inbox. Each email will have a link on it so that you can click in to
view that email, something like this:
My Inbox
view.php?id=1 Email From Bob
view.php?id=2 Email From Mary
view.php?id=3 Email From Ted

Now pretend that as you are viewing your inbox, Jill sends you an email.
Before you refresh your inbox, you decide to click on the Email From
Mary to view it.

Instead, you will be seeing the email from Bob. How come? It's because
the indexes have shifted. If you go back to your inbox, it will be
something like this:
My Inbox
view.php?id=1 Email From Jill
view.php?id=2 Email From Bob
view.php?id=3 Email From Mary
view.php?id=4 Email From Ted

Now you see why clicking on the email with an index of 2 brought up
Bob's email rather than Mary's. This is a way oversimplified version of
the problem, as the indexes are generally not in order (but they can be).

Has anyone else noticed anything similar, or am I alone out there? Any
suggestions? I don't really want to go to IMAP, too intensive on resources.

[xmail] Problem with XMail Queue

2004-08-10 Thread Toby Reiter
All,
I have a huge backlog of mail in my queue. Actually, this is what I'm
guessing, since I can't actually view it right now. I dowloaded Queue
manager, but my spool folder is ~750 megs, and I figure that probably
exceeds what XQM can handle.

My question is -- is there an easy way to tell XMail to process all
this mail as fast as possible? It's currently processing messages at
a rate of ~ 10 megs and hour. This is way too slow for what we need.
Is there any way to speed up this process?

I'm running Xmail 1.16, by the way, if that helps.

Regards,
Toby

[xmail] Problem with XMail

2004-01-06 Thread Dustin C. Hatch
I am having a problem with the Xmail server. When the server is
started, I cannot login to pop3 smtp or ctrl, and I know it is running,
because the top command shows it. It is always an active process, and
consumes about 8-10% of my processor and about 1-2% of my memory. It
causes my hard drive to be active all the time, and it is hard to use
the system because of the drastic slow-down. I have enabled logging in
the xmail script in the init.d folder, but no logs are ever created, ls
on the logs folder always returns nothing.
