is it possible to make this easyer for crosscompiling without patching
configure.ac and configure in an release?

 That's just the way AC_CHECK_FILE works. Since you're cross-compiling,
it doesn't think it's appropriate to check for files on the build
system to determine behavior. It continues, right? It should just give
you the fallback behavior. If you want to specify the fontpath, use
 --with-default-font-path.

no it doesnt continue, and i have already set --with-default-font-path ...

It looks like there's multiple issues with this approach, but the
attached should fix the cross compiling problem. We also need to
address the fact the file test won't resolve all the way when
$sysconfdir is not specified on the command line. E.g.,
sysconfdir=${prefix}/etc by default, and then test -r
 ${sysconfdir}/X11/fontpath.d fails:

 checking for ${prefix}/etc/X11/fontpath.d... no

Subject: [PATCH] Don't use AC_CHECK_FILE for fontpath checks when cross
 compiling

AC_CHECK_FILE chokes when cross compiling, so instead we set the default
to the standard FONTROOTDIR directories in that case.

xorg-server with udev support instead of dbus/hal

2009-11-16 Thread Stephan Raue

Hi,

yesterday i have found an patch to lets building xorg-server with udev
instead of hal/dbus for detecting input devices. i have taken an quick
look in this but i cant get it work in the moment. i dont know where
the patch comes from, or if this will be included in the next time. this
patch can be found for minimyth, an small mediacenter distribution.
because HAL will be deprecated in the next time i think we need an
alternative for HAL less systems.

look here:
http://code.google.com/p/minimyth/source/detail?r=5787
http://code.google.com/p/minimyth/sourc ... amp;r=5799

does anyone know about this patch and the usage of this?
is there an plan to add this patch to xorg-server?

Some components need to build and run programs on the build system that

majority of these components do not correctly use CC_FOR_BUILD, but there is
 a patch (see below) available.

have you tryed ./configure CC=your_gcc_for_target_build

problem with starting with xinit

2009-09-23 Thread Stephan Raue
Hi all,

i have a problem to start Xorg with my other programs with xinit. before
i have updated to the new xorg-server with needed libs, protos etc.
xorg-server has startet with xinit in 1-2 seconds. now starting xorg
needs about 15 seconds. this problem i have some weeks.

i use xinit-1.1.1

my xserverrc:

   #!/bin/sh

   . /etc/sysconfig

   args=-s 0 -br -allowMouseOpenFail

   mkdir -p /var/cache/xkb
   exec /usr/bin/X :0.0 vt$TTY ${args} /dev/null 21

my xinitrc:

   #!/bin/sh

   . /etc/sysconfig

for file in /etc/xinitrc.d/* ; do
 . ${file}
   done

where ${file} starts my programs.

i start xinit with: xinit $XINITRC -- $XSERVERRC /dev/null 21
when i am start

/usr/bin/X :0.0 vt01 -s 0 -br -allowMouseOpenFail sleep 2
/usr/bin/my_sript

the xorg starts in 1-2 seconds and my script 2 seconds later (because of
the sleep that i need to let xorg-server starts)

what can i do to see what is wrong? can i start xorg without xinit and
without a sleep, so my script starts directly when the xorg-server is up
(i need a very very fast start - my goal is a 5sec. start from grub to
my application)?

 [xextproto= 7.0.3] [xext= 1.0.99.1] [inputproto= 1.9.99.15])

Is libx11-1.2.99.1 already available somewhere? The servers show 1.2.2
 as the latest version.

 Hi,

you must take recent master git, there is no libx11-1.2.99.1 already
 available

 Stephan :-)

When creating a tar file from 'make dist' utlist.h is not included; so
 building from it will fail.

can you report this or write this to mailinglist? i dont have make a
make dist i have do this:

-checkout libX11
-sh autogen.sh
-packed this dir

Re: [Intel-gfx] [ANNOUNCE] xf86-video-intel 2.8.0

2009-07-24 Thread Stephan Raue
Zitat von Colin Guthrie gm...@colin.guthr.ie:

Just cherry pick the patch if you're using the super-duper up-to-date
stuff. xserver itself wont compile with any released version with these
protocol changes either, so it's not really too much to ask :)

i know it and xserver now runs for me with recent
intel-master-git-driver with some issues

Peter said that about half the drivers need patches for the protocol
stuff, so intel is not the only one that will affect things in this regard.

 Col

thank you, i have think you forgot this patch

Re: [ANNOUNCE] libXext 1.0.99.2

2009-07-16 Thread Stephan Raue
libXext 1.0.99.2 cannot build with installed xextproto 7.0.99.1 due to
lack of headers that was renamed/moved.

eg:

DPMS.c:41:36: error: X11/extensions/dpmsstr.h: No such file or directory

or:

XMultibuf.c:39:39: error: X11/extensions/multibufst.h: No such file or
directory

can you fix this and test?

You need to configure libdrm from git master with
--enable-radeon-experimental-api
