However, this patch breaks the DELL VE card detection (at least on my DELL's card). The subsystem vender ID of my DELL VE card is 0x1002 (ATI's ID) and the bit 12 of subsystem card ID is reserved for DELL. It appears some OEMs do not follow this rule. In my next patch, if no other issue, I'll change it to test ATI's ID instead of DELL's ID. Hui ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert

GCs's are not a part of a window. A GC holds the rendering style. When you draw something like a filled rectangle you need to pass a GC to XFillRectangle so it knows how the rectangle should be drawn, that is - stippled, or solid, what color, etc... The GC is not a property of the window or pixmap that XFillRectangle draws into, it merely describes how that single rectangle should be drawn. XFree86 4 will load the XF86Config-4 first and the XF86Config second if XF86Config-4 does not exist. This was done so XFree86 3 and XFree86 4 servers could exist on the same machine. [Xpert]Question on X runtime error
I've tried compiling and running the latest xmcd on Linux with OpenMotif and I get the following error. I am using gcc-3.1.1 on Linux pc1 2.4.19-rc5 #36 SMP, GNU assembler 2.12.90 20020501, XFree86 Version 4.2.99.1. I have a Radeon 8500. The precompiled binary from the XMCD web page works. I also compiled a number of other Motif apps, just to test my Motif install and they all work mostly. My OpenMotif was probably compiled against an older version of XFree86, probably 4.2.0 and probably using an older gcc, like version 3.0. Anyone have an idea of where I could start looking in order to solve this problem? I hope this is not too far off topic.
