Sorry for that, Thank you for reverting [~weichiu] I had reverted the fix after
the commit as per the

Siddharth Ahuja commented on YARN-10063:

[~wilfreds], I have fixed up the trailing whitespace issues and the build seems
to be good now. Again, there aren't any tests associated with the usage output
as far as I can see and as this is a cosmetic change I don't believe any junits
are necessary here. Thanks in advance for the commit if you agree.

Siddharth Ahuja commented on YARN-10063:

Thanks [~wilfreds], the spacing before the modifier is intentional as it brings
in the number closer and makes it neater.

Before:

{code:java}
   where command and command-args:
initialize container:   0 appid tokens nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs
cmd app...
launch container: 1 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens --http | --https keystorepath truststorepath pidfile
nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs resources
 [DISABLED] launch docker container: 4 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens --http | --https keystorepath truststorepath pidfile
nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs docker-command-file resources
...
{code}

After:

{code:java}
   where command and command-args:
initialize container:   0 appid tokens nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs
cmd app...
launch container: 1 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens http-option pidfile nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs resources
  where http-option is one of:
  --http
  --https keystorepath truststorepath
 [DISABLED] launch docker container: 4 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens http-option pidfile nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs
docker-command-file resources
...
{code}

The spaces next to the ":" are varying. That is to say, they are not consistent
per command. Therefore, I could modify them to look neater and not break
anything.

Can you check this line:
{code}
"%11s launch docker container:%2d appid containerid workdir "
{code}
It removes spacing before the modifier {{%2d}} which is used to line up the
numeric option with the rest of the commands. It don't think that should be
removed.

The rest of the change looks OK.
Waiting for a build to run.

Siddharth Ahuja commented on YARN-10063:

Thanks [~wilfreds]. I have gone ahead and added a new patch based on your
earlier comments.

I have replaced --http | --https keystorepath truststorepath with http-option
and added the explanation of http-option to both launch container & launch
docker container commands. I also formatted the launch docker container command
slightly so that it looks a bit more neater.

It now looks like below:

{code:java}
[root@host bin]# ./container-executor
Usage: container-executor --checksetup
   container-executor --mount-cgroups  ...
[DISABLED] container-executor --tc-modify-state
[DISABLED] container-executor --tc-read-state
[DISABLED] container-executor --tc-read-stats
[DISABLED] container-executor --exec-container
[DISABLED] container-executor --run-docker
[DISABLED] container-executor --remove-docker-container [hierarchy]

[DISABLED] container-executor --inspect-docker-container
[DISABLED] container-executor --run-runc-container
[DISABLED] container-executor --reap-runc-layer-mounts
   container-executor
   where command and command-args:
initialize container:   0 appid tokens nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs
cmd app...
launch container: 1 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens http-option pidfile nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs resources
  where http-option is one of:
  --http
  --https keystorepath truststorepath
 [DISABLED] launch docker container: 4 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens http-option pidfile nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs
docker-command-file resources
  where http-option is one of:
  --http
  --https keystorepath truststorepath
signal container:   2 container-pid signal
delete as user: 3 relative-path
list as user:   5 relative-path
[DISABLED]  sync yarn sysfs:6 app-id nm-local-dirs
{code}

[jira] [Commented] (YARN-10063) Usage output of container-executor binary needs to include --http/--https argument

Wilfred Spiegelenburg commented on YARN-10063:

Thank you review [~pbacsko] and for the update [~sahuja]

We need to add the usage correctly to the output. What I see at the moment does
not look correct.The output indicates that we have {{--http | --https}} It does
not show that the two parameters following the "choice" are only supported with
the https option.

Not sure how we can show that better, we might need to go to partially back to
the way [~sahuja] did show it in the first version and use the same construct
as used for the {{command and command-args}} to provide the detail needed, so
something like:
{quote}where command and command-args:
 initialize container: 0 appid tokens nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs cmd app...
 launch container: 1 appid containerid workdir container-script tokens
*http-option* pidfile nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs resources
optional-tc-command-file
 [DISABLED] launch docker container: 4 appid containerid
 ...
 where http-option is one of:
 --http
 --https keystorepath truststorepath
{quote}

A bit difficult to show in jira but I think you get the gist.

Thanks [~pbacsko].

I have made the changes and uploaded the patch again that incorporates the
changes discussed just above.

sage output of both commands - LAUNCH_CONTAINER (1) and LAUNCH_DOCKER_CONTAINER
(4) has been updated to include the http flag or https flag with details.

The usage output from the container-executor binary now looks as per below:

Siddharth Ahuja commented on YARN-10063:

Hi [~pbacsko], thanks for your update. I see your point, however, if we make
--https as optional, then, we still need to specify --http there (even if there
is no additional details that need to be supplied). The reason why this JIRA
was actually created was because someone noticed "--http" in the command array
but it wasn't clear when/how this got introduced because the usage output from
container-executor binary does not have this, e.g:

{code}
Full command array for failed execution:
[nice, -n, 0, /var/lib/yarn-ce/bin/container-executor, usr, usr, 1,
application_1576461726457_5994, container_e136_1576461726457_5994_01_001801,
/data07/yarn/nm/usercache/usr_ds_exec_hdp/appcache/application_1576461726457_5994/container_e136_1576461726457_5994_01_001801,

 --http,
/data06/yarn/nm/nmPrivate/application_1576461726457_5994/container_e136_1576461726457_5994_01_001801/container_e136_1576461726457_5994_01_001801.pid,

/data01/yarn/nm%/data02/yarn/nm%/data03/yarn/nm%/data04/yarn/nm%/data05/yarn/nm%/data06/yarn/nm%/data07/yarn/nm%/data08/yarn/nm%/data09/yarn/nm%/data10/yarn/nm%/data11/yarn/nm%/data12/yarn/nm,

cgroups=/var/lib/yarn-ce/cgroups/cpu/hadoop-yarn/container_e136_1576461726457_5994_01_001801/tasks]
{code}

As per:

https://github.com/apache/hadoop/blob/trunk/hadoop-yarn-project/hadoop-yarn/hadoop-yarn-server/hadoop-yarn-server-nodemanager/src/main/java/org/apache/hadoop/yarn/server/nodemanager/containermanager/linux/runtime/DefaultLinuxContainerRuntime.java#L127

and

https://github.com/apache/hadoop/blob/trunk/hadoop-yarn-project/hadoop-yarn/hadoop-yarn-server/hadoop-yarn-server-nodemanager/src/main/java/org/apache/hadoop/yarn/server/nodemanager/containermanager/linux/runtime/DefaultLinuxContainerRuntime.java#L131

we will either have --http or --https specified and if the latter is specified
then it will have keystore and truststore details.

Therefore, we could have something like this:

{code}
launch container: 1 appid containerid workdir container-script tokens
--http | --https keystorepath truststorepath pidfile nm-local-dirs nm-log-dirs
resources
launch docker container: 4 appid containerid workdir container-script
tokens --http | --https keystorepath truststorepath pidfile nm-local-dirs
nm-log-dirs docker-command-file resources
{code}

Please let me know if you are happy with this and I will provide another patch
based on the above. Thanks!

[~sahuja] wouldn't it be better to print sth like {{1 appid containerid workdir
container-script tokens [--https keystorepath truststorepath] pidfile...}},
because you don't really need any details for http. You can consider printing
that {{[ ]}} means that the given arguments are optional.
