RE: [Zappa-List] The little known history of the Mothers of Invention
It's just the Penguin In Bondage and a lengthy blues vamp thereafter during which Frank tells the story of Pal Studios/Studio Z up to the singing and founding of the Mothers - the show was the tenth anniversary. It's a nice Penguin solo, and the whole thing is fun enough, but possibly not worth the fiver or whatever i-tunes is asking for it. And yes – It was definitely Matt Groening’s moustache design. Does anyone remember that this was supposed to be detachable and stick-on-able? I never did experiment with this, assuming whatever stick it has would fade and you’d soon be left with nothing. Did I dream this? Released right after Franks passing by son Dweezel for the true Zappa Fan...my question is How rare is this release ? and How many actually know about it let alone have actually heard it ? It is said to contain Franks favorite Live works and presented with each version on the record for comparison. For those of yopu that dont know, it has a die cut moustache and Imperial on the front of cd that resembles that of FZ. RE: [Zappa-List] 15 years ago
It's something to think about - where Frank's music might've been today - fifteen years - the distance travelled from Freak Out! to Shut up 'n' Play Yer Guitar, or from Over-Nite Sensation to Broadway the Hard Way, or from Sheik Yerbouti to Civilization Phaze III - just imagine what these last fifteen years might have been... Partly in order to receive any interesting post at all (please don't put the CDs in an envelope with a window and bank statement reminding me that the world banking crisis doesn't bother me since I don't have enough money in the first place to be in any danger) and partly in order to be a part of the community and partly to have some lovely Frank Zappa turn up out of the blue, I'll leap onto this vine please R2. RE: [Zappa-List] help/info needed on converting files
Hi Joseph, I believe itunes will do it - click 'preferences' in the 'edit' menu, go to the 'advanced' tab, then 'importing' and set it to WAV - then you can right click any track and you'll see the 'convert selection to WAV' option. That would do it, I think? I have been using MusicMatch to convert from MP3 to WAV and the vice versa on one computer (since my version of Sound Forge only recognizes WAVs). Since MusicMatch changed to Yahoo Music and then was discontinued, I can't do this on my other computer. I've looked at the other rippers/players on that PC and can't find the same function; maybe I have it but don't know it. What other programs can do this seemingly simple task?
