Re: [ZION] Thought for the day
Sucralose is sold under the brand name "Splenda" and is available next to Equal in grocery stores. It is a one teaspoon for one teaspoon substitute for table sugar. Note, however, that it is somewhat pricey. Some companies have started to use it in products. For example, Diet Rite drinks are now made with sucralose. More companies will gradually start to use this product as more people complain of the side effects of NutraSweet. Re: [ZION] Thought for the day
Stacy, My husband is diabetic also, and he buys the candies with sucralose all the time. There are some made by Russell Stover, Cadbury's Turtles, and now I'm seeing some done by Reese's (is that Hershey's?). I've seen them at Walmart, Target & Kroger, and I'm sure they are carried at other stores, as well. My husband does say that they aren't the best for diabetics, but if you're really craving the taste of chocolate, they are good to have on hand. Also, the box does warn against eating too many at a time. Because the body doesn't process the sucralose, I imagine it causes "plumbing" problems. My husband might eat one every couple of days. I've tried them and they aren't bad at all. My favorites are the coconut & chocolate concoctions by Russell Stover's. I do not have the patience of Job - I don't even have an M.D.! (referencing a minor typo below). But, no, we here in the Piedmont (central NC) only got about 50 mph winds - a few trees down and power out for less than an hour at most. And besides, I was in Colorado for the week, so my wife and family had to deal with it without me. Luckily, no problems, and my flight came in the next day with no problems (in fact, we were even a bit early). Thanks for asking.
