There is nothing in ZClasses that help you do this, as compared with
doing it with say, Plone and ATSchemaEditorNG.

That is way different from the Zope 2 security model.

Well, no it isn't. It's a bit different from the CMF security model, agreed.

I think Zope 3 comes closer to allowing me to build my own security model.

Sure. So, Zope3 + userschemas and some workflow then.

THAT would be useful. Fiddling with ZClasses is not.

Of course I would love such a security model in Zope 2, but I am not waiting
for it. Maybe I could do it with 5.

You can do it with ordinary Zope2 as well and it's not even hard, but
admittedly it's tricky if you want to do everything TTW. But then, we
have constantly told you not to. :-)

For my next app the only thing I have approved so far is python and ZODB.

Very reasonable attitude.

  Great news.

One question: you mention the upcoming subversion upgrade and Jim
mentioned a zope.org subversion upgrade. Is that the same upgrade
you're talking about? So: is dzug arranging the read-only http mirror
via zope.org or will it be at dzug.org?

I'm guessing that the upgrade ofsvn.zope.org to subversion 1.4 will
allow them to use svnsync to sync it to their own repository, outside of
 zope.org.

Resurrecting an old thread :-)

From what I figured from irc and some dzug.org google searching, the
zope svn has now apparently been moved to 1.4. Christian, do you know
what the status of the dzug mirror is?

It depends on *who* is trying to reinvent wheels :-)
I just have some feeling about the quality of the new wheel when I know
who is working on it. Look at Microsoft...they tried to reinvent the
MP3 player...and what came out of it...yet another MP3 player without
outstanding feature...hope you got my point :)

Grok wiki is ready to use !

 http://wiki.zope.org/grok

Keeping grok in the zope3 wiki is another option. Baijum has manage access
and I'll add it for anyone else necessary, so you can do what's needed.
Also wiki.zope.org is now back online, there was a network issue at the
server.

Don't think that is it because it works fine if I change Zope
to port 80.
And, I was accessing apache on port 80 using the ip number,
localhost, the
machine's real name, and the URL domain it just wouldn't
rewrite to 8086.
nslookup showed name was still set to my ip number.

[Zope] Custom Zope ZPT login page

2007-04-26 Thread SpiderX

I use Zope with a custom application that I'm writing using strait Zope,
MSSQL, ZSQL methods, and ZPT, with some python / javascript scripts along
the way. I want to write my own login page, instead of using the HTTP auth,
I would like to present a webpage saying 'login required' (which is open to
anonymous) as an alternative to the popup HTTP auth. I've seen this with
Plone, but is it possible with regular Zope? If not, what do I need to get
that?

Also, I'm using the LDAPAuth product, and I'd like to have it use NTLM
authentication so people with IE wouldn't have to login. Is there a product
out there which could do that?

A search of Pluggable Authentication Service (PAS), may get you something
