I could not agree more with all of Derek's rant. Note for the record, I've
been evangelizing about Mathew Jonson since I first saw him live @ Fabric
this Spring. I'm not saying that to underscore the 'ahead of the curve'
factor, just to say that this is not some f*cking trend based on two new

J.T.,
For the record, if I'm saying a record is clearly record of the year, I'm
not presuming to speak for others. Apologies if that's not implied. Perhaps
'everyone will love it' is a bit strong, but I didn't think anyone would
react so strongly to my enthusiasm for it. If I'm very excited about

What a great track. Where can I find this bootleg? I presume that the
original is quite hard to find.
i got it from juno.co.uk
could you please tell something more about this boot? What was the cat# on
the record and what was written on the labels?
Hi,
I noticed that the panic in detroit compilation on BUZZ (Belgium) is
bootlegged (an unofficial repress so to speak). From online audio samples I
conclude that the pressing is really bad and there is a lot of surface
noise. Can anyone confirm this? Is this record playable?
Cheers,
Maarten -
I was listening to a copy last week, it was terrible - really scratchy and
hissy, much worse quality than that Transmat compilation (already bad!).
Playable I guess, but only just. The copy I was checking was skipping all
over the place too... I had thought it was just a really messed up
I heard the same thing. There's been a few recent represses apparently
from the Buzz label, and all of them have garnered the same remark -
Poor job on the quality of these pressings.
I really wanted to pick them up - but have decided to pass based on
these reviews.

It's true, the Panic in Detroit comp has been bootlegged and the quality is
more than poor. If you ever get the chance to buy the original you should do
but never get any of those bootlegs
the original pressing has good quality, not perfect but it's playable and
okay. for get those

Derek's post about Mathew Johnson is one of the reasons I bother to read
313 any more. It's not enough that Derek is a great DJ, or that he's
worked for years in the trenches of techno, he happens to be able to
write coherently and humorously.
And dragging a gross, stained, old 15 monitor onto
Why do we hate it so when people get a bit of fame? Who would we talk or
moan about then eh? I'll certainly be checking him out on Monday.
Rob Hood played a stormer on Friday, Jeff Mills didn't show, lost his

hey list-
A while back i asked what akufen has been up too. A few people on the
list mentioned his Blue rmx of Plej was really good. I followed it up
today and its a great track indeed.I've only heard a sample but it
seems like it has great potential. thanks to all who suggested it.
How was robert hood? Did you recognize what he played?
He was fine and yeah he dropped a few classics, he's a bit hard for me live
sometimes but the crowd was up for it.
Oh yeah, does anyone know if hood plays live?
Decks and 909...

just so we're clear: I was not hateing on Matt Jonson. I've seen it spelled
both ways throughout this thread, and on the net, and wondered if it was a
typo or if there were two of them. the sick and tired part was a joke at
the 313 lists expense (think Theo, Jeff, Rob, and Drexcia). sorry Martin.
i wasnt trying to say mj doesnt deserve praise you know. but i don't care if
the whole list proclaims it record of the year, i can still state my
opinion. derek p may be a great dj and a beautiful human being but he doesnt
know me and i dont appreciate being called an elitist and to get over
I'm not offend Sean - The first line was said with a smile fella,we need
