his x-mix is killer.
best set i have seen him play was at the motor during the first demf.
that set rocked.
but mostly johns sets are so so. st the ten year anv. at st andrews
he was playing pre mixed records and i kinda lost a little respect
for him them. but he is a solid house dj, is fun
I saw him at Tastefest in ... 2002? He played before Carl Craig. Then
we went to a reception at RealDetroit for Planet E, and then to Motor
to see Acquaviva again.
Oh, I was staying with Dennis Donahue, and somewhere in all that, we
saw War, and a bit of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
I got mine from J.T last night.
It's great!

Way out of my budget this month. Sunday is Co-op as you rightly point out.
For those of you who like more than 30 seconds to sample a song, you
can hear Strand's new single, Intact, in its entirety on our MySpace

material there as well.
We'd like to know what people think of the new stuff as it comes
I really dig the melodies and it's really well produced. Everything leaps
out in the mix, nice sounds, etc. But 'Intact' is really linear. The beats
don't change much worth speaking of and the melodic changes occur in chunks
(8-bar intervals, etc). Personally I don't mind this style (most
Liking intact, very funky and flows well with all the quirky stuff going on..

Now that's what I'm talking about. Thanks for the comments. I, for one,
have been pretty lazy when it comes to beats in the past, which I
thought was odd because I'm a pretty good drummer. The drums don't
change in Intact and I can see how that might be a sticking point for
some people. It is

Fair enough. Well, there's always next time to blow your wig back. I'm
just happy you had the moxy to be honest. It's all subjective and we
may totally disagree with an opinion, but it's interesting to see how
differently people will respond to the same stimulus. At least, I find

This happens to me too but only occasionally. Any tech people got any
theories? (about this I mean, I know tech people have quite a
lot of theories generally.)

On further reflection, I think the older style of 4/8/16 bar chunks had
a lot to do with the way hardware drum machines and sequencers were
designed back then. Everything was in multiples of four and it was so
easy to fall into a pattern (pun only slightly intended) of writing and
