hey man... i'm wondering if you can do a quickie favor and post some
Detroit NYC related news on 313 list?
First off... I'm
Patrice Scott- Beyond Deep and Evolutions EP- all Patrices' releases
sem to sell out in our shop within about a day of release- anyone knwo
much about him at all?
Russ Gabriel is back with a few nice tracks including Future Funk vol
2 on Sestra Recordings- good stabby/clubby Housey/Technoy sort
New Move D and Benjamin Brun album- haven't had a chance to listen to
it yet- anyone else heard it?
my knee jerk reaction was it's bland especially compared to a lot of
other move d stuff (quite good), but i should probably give it a
lesson. i'm still caning their recent jam honey.
peace,
A little off topic but Tony talks about digital music here:

(I make no comment on how true his assertions are, it's Tony Wilson
right)
robin...

He's a nice man. Apparently the label logo is actually a Sistrum. He told me it
was a kind of percussion instrument, a bit like the cymbally bits you get round
the edge of a tambourine. Didn't know that.

Raises a good point: that this phenomenon might not be genre- or
scene-specific.

the thought occurred to me a few days ago when i was looking at the lineup
for bonaroo.
i actually thought the festival this year was really ok. for all its
worth, the sound stages were great, and core artists played, even if
others that are less than my cup of tea getting to play and make cash.
they organized really professionally as far as i can tell. the
landscape of fans varies,

There is a cool new Bowie tribute Life Beyond Mars on Rapster.
Apparently Carl Craig has contributed, as with Kelley Polar and
Matthew Dear. You can hear audiofiles on Rapster's website
(rapsterrecords.com?) I don't have a track list but it's probably
online! This comp is from the same
I believe that John Arnold and Jeremy Ellis are playing this same gig. Nice!

John is in fact listed as part of the band (see the link i posted),
but there's no mention of ayro.
Either way, I'm going to really try to make it.

From what I hear, it's essentially the Detroit band Zoos of Berlin
doing the cover (they've been recording in Carl's studio), and then
Carl did a mix/edit/something-or-other on it.
Can't wait to hear it either way.

That's quite possible - I'm going by a presser and PRs always pounce
on the big names! ;) Should be cool anyways.

Extremely interesting new group, Zoos of Berlin, not least for the fact that
the drummer is Collin Dupuis, Carl's full-time recording engineer. Check
them out:
