I've just begun reading the articles and don't know yet if it's going
to be mostly academic self-absorption (rampant in the field of
ethnomusicology where this journal is roughly situated). So far it's
fairly lively and the article about trance is a hoot. And having
people like Hilly Rietveld
I only read the IDM one, but I have to say that like much academic
writing, it was rather poor because the writer was trying to use a
mish-mash of concepts vaguely associated with post-structuralist and
post-modern literary theory in a seemingly random fashion. The result
