I found the search pretty easily. You can get around the login by clicking your continent. I agree this doesn't seem incredibly intuitive. It's actually pretty annoying. I didn't bother to register, but it doesn't look like you get the option to avoid this login screen even if you do.

I imagine it will get better eventually, but it will probably take a little while. They've been working on this version for a really long time and the launch was delayed several times. The people involved are all really smart and creative, but like most other e-projects it
