I recently did a bit on Drum Machine Technicians (DJ Cue and Eddie Def). I read an interesting interview with them where they pointed out that they noticed a lot of electronic music producers (in the 90s) were playing with hip hop beats but hip hop producers were kinda ignoring what was going on
