I'm ready to upgrade our 4D server machine and would welcome any insights
and recommendations.
Some details:
- 40 Users (Mac and Windows)
- 4GB data file
- 120 tables
- The current server is a 2011 Mac Mini with 8GB and raid 4XSSD HD

I'm sure there are more elegant solutions, but here is what we are doing.
Our office has a mix of Windows and Macs. We use 4D, Quickbooks
Enterprise, and Google for essentially everything.
We have installed Google Remote Desktop on every office machine.
People are working from home using their
Sharing data between QB's desktop and 4D is something we have been doing
for about 10 years. And something we have looked at alternative and better
solutions for.
I'd assume like many companies, we try to use 4D for everything to run our
business (our entire CRM / ERP / TIME CLOCK system) except
I am wanting to do 2-way communication with a USB device directly from
within 4D. I need to send command codes to the device and then receive
data back from the device.
Does anyone have experience with this? Ideally, some help in finding some
technical documentation on how to do this would be
I have a standalone 4D application that needs to occasionally connect to
our 4D Server to exchange some data. Realizing there are a few different
architecture approaches to take, I'd appreciate some advice as to the
easiest way to approach this. Thanks.
