Thanks Frank. Took your advice and put the text *before* the note. All is
now sweetness and light. It works a treat albeit somewhat cumbersome. What
I've done, to try to cut down on the extra typing, is to write "A" through
"G" (using them as templates) a couple of blank lines b

You have to put them *before* not after each note!

Thanks for your reply, Phil, but I'd already tried it with the text of the
letters ie "G", "A", etc. It works - nearly!!?? For some obscure reason it
misses out the first note and designates the next as the first. Say, in 6/8
