To Phil Taylor Thanks for your reply, Phil, but I'd already tried it with the text of the letters ie "G", "A", etc. It works - nearly!!?? For some obscure reason it misses out the first note and designates the next as the first. Say, in 6/8 time you've written the staff notes of the first three notes as abc with the text "A" "B" "C" after each note. What you get is the first note blank with the following two showing "A" and "B" respectively. Getoutta that! But thanks again. I'll keep trying.

Would be grateful for suggestions. ABC2Win is a bit limited in that it doesn't support the w: field for aligned vocals, or the "_text" format for annotations, either of which would be a good way of doing this. If you don't mind the solfa appearing above the staff, you could use "guitar chords" like this: X:1 T:Scale of C Major M:C L:1/8 K:C "Doh"C "Re"D "Me"E "Fa"F "So"G "La"A "Te"B "Doh"c || Phil Taylor To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
