Hello,
Everything went wel at my side and I reinstalled Jaws 17 as well.
However Jaws is not starting automatically despite all appropriate
settings are selected. Wondering if it is my PC specific? And what may
be the workaround?
Thanks.

let me put another query to you:
can the ultrasonic device be used without using the cane in indoor
surroundings? and, in that case, would it give the same result?

The best way is to change the appropriate settings by going to BIOS.
Go to Advanced Settings>Function Key Behaviour and select the desired
option. It of course requires sighted assistance but it is worth it
once and for all.

Hi,
The cane is water resistant but not waterproof therefore it can withstand a
little bit of rain. When it rains, you can remove the ultrasonic device and use
the cane like a regular cane.

Hi Aaruni,
Ah your situation is similar to mine except that I navigate in the office and
jabbing your colleagues with a stick is not the best idea though it is extremely
tempting. Ausion and the smart Cane from Saksham / IIT will alert you to an
obstacle like a human. Orientation is trickier.
Hi,
You detect autorikshas by their engine noise. I cannot comment on signaling
them. The device will tell you if you come close to an autoriksha.

Hi,
No unless you point the aid at the ground. This was the exact question I asked
the developers.
The IIT smart cane combines both approaches namely, the cane for ground level
obstacle detection while the ultrasonic device allows for above knee obstacle
detection.

Hi Ekinath,
I used the binary available on the Windows Insiders page, and was able
to upgrade all by myself using Narrator. A lot of the settings will be
restored automatically from your current version of the OS, and so you
won't have to change all that much.
Best,
