payal, do the following to get the familiar startup sound back: after pressing windows key, type sounds or change system sounds and hit enter. the change system sound dialog box comes up. tab cupple of times and tick the checkbox that says play the startup sound. click apply and ok; you are done.

hi all, When i start up my laptop running Windows 10, i am met with total silence until JAWS decides to speak up. any idea why i don't hear the start up tone when it boots? is there some way i can activate it or am i going to suffer nerves each time i boot my laptop? Thanks for any inputs. Payal
