Hi
I am trying to set the \software\microsoft\windows
nt\currentversion\winlogon\welcome key so that the text will appear in
the alt-ctrl-del screen.
Doing so directly works, but not by gpo.
This is the adm I have tried:

First, do the NT4 clients have
the DSClient installed, and if so, does it make a difference?
I've tried installing the DSClient - doesn't seem to make a difference
whether the clients have it installed or not.
Second, are you still running WINS in the environment?

I had a similar situation with winme clients (we only have 2 remaining thank

they were locked out/cannot find domain. I installed the DSClient and that
didn't help. I was able to ping by netbios name and so forth, I ended
Add to that: output of netdiag and dcdiag from the DC's would be a good
addition.

Hey Laura...
Since you're running WINS, are there any static WINS entries for the domain?
(1C records) I used to have people who thought you needed them to fix stupid
little problems that are simple misconfigurations...
Use a Win2k or later WINS manager and do a search for registrations for the
netBIOS name

humble attempt at Spanish)

I have this right before I pass on the info to the project manager.
We have no
Windows 2003 domain controllers yet, only 2000. However, we are planning to
start deploying some Windows 2003 terminal
Thanks Jack
the article will be much appreciatedI guess if thats the
case, my next question would be do they need to be domain controllers also? I
dont think management is planning on a Win2003 domain structure yet

I really should use Lookout (www.lookoutsoft.com) to search before I
say I can't find things :-p
From the Sunbelt NTSYSADMIN list just last
week:

As far as I can see - no our current Licensing server
is a 2000 member server (we're still a NT Domain...) so I don't _think_ there's
a requirement for a 2K3 DC... but hopefully the doc's I've just posted will give
the answers.

Greetings
A windows 2000 license server cant
hand out 2003 TS Cals but a 2003 license server is able to hand out both 2000
and 2003 cals.
If a license server isnt on a
domain controller the automatic discovery wont work but you can modify
the registry to specify a license server so
2003 TS servers need 2003 license servers,
however in 2003 a license server need not be on a DC. So you can fire up ts
licensing on any 2k03 box in the environment and it can service the 2k03 ts
servers no problem.
2k03 ts license servers can also service 2k
ts servers, just not the other
I have a devloper who is running visual source safe and has had issues since day one
logging in(to VSS).
The app just uses its own internal db of users for auth, not AD. However the files
reside on an ntfs share.
Here's my confusion- I put this devloper into the domainadmins group as a test.
Sounds like you've got NTFS permissions covered, but have you checked
the share permissions?

Tom,

Dear all,
I would like your advice concerning a setup of ADC.
We have two different Exchange organizations that we want to interconnect. Our idea is
to set up a X400 connector to handle mailrouting and using ADC to synchronize the
directories. When setting up tha ADC-CA we run into

Context switching will be painful here with

More generally, youll be
hardware-constrained before youll really need to think about Windows
issues. Things like /3gb and pae need to be considered, but short of that, you

No problem. My friend who encountered the issue didn't seem
to have a problem for quite some time. It wasn't until he had a lot of data out
there that it became obvious something wasn't right.

Hi-
I think this might work. Give it a go. I made the assumption that you
wanted %computername% to be resolved to the actual machinename. If not,
then go ahead and remove the EXPANDABLETEXT keyword.
