When you look at the open sessions on a DC, some machines are reported by
computer names and others by IP addresses. I thought it may be because of
the mixed environment of W2k and XP machines, but this is not the case.
Anyone notice this too?

Also I have to point out that I've worked on many, many AD deployments where
in-place upgrades have been extremely successful.
Lot's of cleanup on the front end makes an in-place upgrade a breeze.

just inherited 3 AD controllers and the DNS in just a mess, some clients point
to External Bind Cache servers and there are 2 zones in MS DNS that are used
for intern resolution with half the resources in one zone and half in the other,
Ive build another Member server just running DNS
I believe it has something to do with the NetBIOS settings on the machine
you are connecting from.
