As you can see from the responses, you
have lot of options. It just depends on your budget, time (setup
administration), and expertise which one is the best bet for you.

This question is for Susan - SBS Goddess - but feel free to respond if
you know the answer. Can a SBS 2003 domain/forest be renamed? If so,
what's the best/recommended practice in doing it?
TIA

Unfortunately I cannot shed a light on
your AD authentication woes. However, from a pure Exchange perspective, you can
try using MS tool - Microsoft Exchange Server Disaster Recovery Analyzer
Tool. I have tested it myself by bringing down (dismounting) a database and getting
a report from
I'd be interested on getting that spreadsheet. I'm willing to pay for

Title: RE: [ActiveDir] Delete Uninstall directories?
I was never aware of having to keep a
pagefile pointer on C: Why is that necessary?
As far as minimum I go with RAM*2+1
formula on the other partition(s).

Your question is not very clear to me either, but I'll take a stab at
it:
1- Mailboxes are NOT physically located on DC, but on Exchange server's
Information Store.
2- Email is only an attribute of the user's AD account, not a separate
entity.
3- When Exchange is set up initially, the domains it
You can also try Microsofts Best
Practice Analyzer tool. Im not sure if it lists all mailbox stores
settings, but it generates a very comprehensive report.
What settings do you need to know/document
specifically?

There is also an Exchange version called

I'm sure I'm not the first one to have problem w. GP in regards to
assign/publish apps.
The problem I'm having is the app assigned under GP won't run.
After running the GP modeling wizard under GPMC it says it couldn't load
GP because it couldn't find the path. Then in DC's event log, it records
When trying to join PCs to domain, Access
Denied error message is displayed.
There are no entries in Event Viewer logs.
PCs can ping DC by name IP address. Also there are no duplicate machines
in AD.
These PCs were part of bunch of PCs that
were imaged and sent to remote site. Some are
My apologies if this is a bit off-topic,
but I was wondering if I ask the masters (bowing my head of course!) a DNS scenario
question:
Im at a client site, where theyre
running AD2K, w. 2 DCs both running DNS, one is actually running Exchange (Yikes!).
One DNS has forwarders enabled
A little late to put my 2 cents in, but I guess better late than never.
I've used NAGIOS, Kaseya, and MonitorIT. If you're comfortable with
Linux I'd go with NAGIOS, you can't go wrong with the price: FREE.
Otherwise the other two are viable options, you get a whole lotta
features. The down side

I have a W2K AD that I want to migrate to
W2K3 AD. Whats the best option: In-place upgrade of the W2K DC or
standing up a brand new W2K3 DC server
And then upgrade the W2K DC to W2K3?
By the way the W2K DC is also running DNS,

this with a 700 user network with no downtime.
