Doug,
Did you try to install the patch? It is possible and even probable
you would need to apply the patch on your management statuion as well
as the servers.

Can you make the user a member of the domain admins of each of the
domains in the forest?
Can you use restricted groups on the clients to mandate the members of
the local built in adminsitrators?
Final option use member of option. To do this create a group with this
user as a member. Create a me
Also look at replcheck. If I recall,
replcheck /showrepl
will verify that replication is occuring properly. Also look at
Active Directory sites and verify all the proper connections have been
created.

Windows IPSEC policies are applied based on IP addresses. You could
possibly do this per user if you had a batch file that would create
and resind the IPSEC policy. You could then apply the IPSEC policy in
a logon script and remove it in a log off script.

I see no reason why WINS would be needed in an empty root domain. If
you did decide to use WINS in this domain, I see no problem with using
the WINS from a child domain.
In our environment, we have three separate AD forests and only one set
of WINS servers.

I have a Sys admin who is seeing two computer accounts logging on to
one of her applications servers. The computer account logs on with a
logon type 3 and then logs off. This admin is thinking something
nefarious is going on, while I do not. Does anyone know what might be

Neil,
This sounds reasonable and is similar to what we setup. I setup an
extranet domain for the WSS servers. I setup a one way trust between
our internal Forest and the Extranet forest. Instead of creating a
trust for our customers, we created a web site that allows them to
create a user accou
I'm not sure about the SUS stuff. I have this set on my terminal
servers. While I can access the site, I get a message telling me
access is denied. You might want to set your SUS computer in a
special OU, or setup the ACL for thr GPO to deny apply GPO settings
for the SUS computer.

If your users have local admin rights on their machine, be very
careful with restricted groups. Use a logon script instead.

Create a startup group. Place the following command in the startup script:
Net Group Administrators /add.
This should work, but please test it first.

What is everyon using to monitor replication between domain controllers?
I ran into a problem yesterday with replication. We are running a
Bind DNS with the underscore domains delegated to Active Directory
integrated DNS. I rebuilt a domain controller last Wednesday and
everything did not get up
