Hi all,
first in a w2k3 domain the license server could be installed on any
machine. It must not be a DC like it was in w2k domain.
But I think the problem in this case is that the users trying to log on
must be members of the local "remote desktop users" group on the terminal
server.

Jason,
use a monitoring tool like "total uninstaller" from http://www.martau.com
to identify where the software needs permission to write (registry AND
file system).
You should examine it twice. First during installation and later during
normal program run.
After identifying the permission require
I think the color would be changed in this way:
To change the background color to that of your choice, you need to alter
the registry:
In Registry navigate to the following key:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors
edit the Background value by typing the Color code in R G B format and

Hi,
you can do what Phil has explained by using loopback policy. But this not
a smooth way.
There are several basic options for Folder Redirection. For each basic
option, there is an advanced version of that option. The advanced version
provides for finer control by allowing redirection that is ba
Hi Adam,
you are right. DCGPOfix is only for Windows 2003.
In this case I would agree to the procedure Guido described.
If you have different domains you can copy the default domain policy from
any other domain (as long as you didn't modify this policy). You do not
need to create a new domain.

you have to differentiate between TS in admin mode (default) and
Application mode.

Hi,
check two things (I'm not sure if this works if the policy is deleted, but
maybe the dcgpofix tool can help):
1. check http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=226243
2. use the tool dcgpofix
Log on as a domain administrator to a DC.
Start a command session.
To reset the Domain GPO, type
dcgpofix /t

check the eventlogs. Normally you should get many failures of RPC in such
a case. What does the eventlog show?
Is the RPC service up and running on your machine?

Use the security groups filtering option for applying the policy only to
your "help desk group". Enable the apply and read permission only for this
group...
Or -if you only want to remove the admins from applying this policy- use
the deny option in security settings for the admins...
But why don't
This sounds that ad is not installed (correctly) on the server as you
should at least get the local server. Did you get any errors during
dcpromo? Verify DNS settings!

You can use also our tool RemoteDeploymentPackage
(http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/rdp.html).
RDP offers templates to deploy, image and re-deploy servers-images and also
additional software. RDP is based on Altiris solution

Hi,
when you are using windows 2003 as terminal server, there is the way of
ading users or groups to the local group on the TS server, which is called
RemoteDesktopUsers.
You can add members to this group by using the restricted group policy in
a domain
You can simulate this on win 2000, when
Hi,
as far as I can remember, the browse active directory through MNP was
removed in Win XP. We had this problem in a client design project 1 year
ago.
I'm not sure, whether there is solution available in the meantime. At the
time of the project there was no official (and supported) solution to
