Hi all TSM'ers,
TSM Client 3.1.0.8 on NT
TSM Server 3.1.2.58 on AIX
I have the following scenario and hope someone can explain this to me.
When archiving we get the following:

Hi everybody,
I updated several NT Boxes from ADSM 3.1 to TSM 4.1.16. After a reboot I saw
in the eventlog an error something like : "PERFLIB: DSMCPERF.DLL is missing".
In this case,I went to the following registry entry, and I`d deleted the 'open'
and 'library' key.

Hello everybody.
I'm having a number of NT-servers (clients) and Win2000 Servers that I
guess would
be best to install/run this patch on.
Does anybody have any experiences of using the Client-Patch 4.1.2.12 on
Win32 ?
I also have a few Ms Clusterservers ( NT 4.0 ) that I also have to do

A backupset is the first self-discovery media created by Tivoli: you can

Hi,
I'm in the process of upgrading my STK library. I currently have a STK9714
and I'm getting a STK9710. Will I be able to move the tapes from on library

the old STK9714 ( 100 tapes ) and check them in to the new
APAR IC28571 deals with this issue. It looks like you've come close to
hitting the nail on the head. But, I would suggest reviewing the APAR that
Tivoli currently has.

I have an AIX client which dumps core every time I try to backup
a particular 3.5GB fs. The log shows:

Interesting,
We too have over 70 AIX clients on our TSM server, but I have 1
client that coughs the same error about once a week:

03/11/01 16:00:11 0xD01D08C8
I used TSMCLEAN on 2 different NT 4 server clients. The only issue I had
was users complaining of the performance hit because I ran it during the
work day. It basically impacts the system the same as a real backup
would, except I had about 20 times the normal backup amount because of all

The signal 11 is obviously a Segmentation Fault, which is a sofware
defect that should be reported to Tivoli Support for resolution.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to set up a SAN using two IBM 2109-S16 FC Switch, six TSM Servers
and a 3494 with 10 3590E drives
Four TSM Servers are running smooth (1 M80, 2 Dell with FC Qlogic 2200, 1

I have two other servers (E3500 and a E1)

TSM 4.1.1 on a Netfinity 6000R with NT4SP6a. The server is connected to a
FC Fabric consisting of an IBM 2109-S16 FC Switch. This then connects via
longwave fibre to a SDG 2108-G07. Finally we get to attach the 4 tape
I just went out to re-download the 4.1.2 install for Windows NT and the
website states "Note: The V4.1.2 server package has been temporarily
removed. APAR IC29552 is being investigated."
Unless I missed it somewhere, this hasn't been announced yet. Does
anyone know what's going on?

Hi,
We moved from a L18 tape library to a L32 library and just opened up the
library and moved the tapes manually. We made sure we kept them in the same
order that we pulled them out. We also looked at how the new library labeled
the slot numbers. We then put the tapes in those slots, and then we
Jay,
Does your NT server see 4 or 16 drives...?
I don't know how much help this is, but I'm running a similar environment
here. The only major difference is that my TSM server is an IBM RS/6000
(H80) running AIX 4.3.3... Anyway, within AIX, I see 15 drives and 3
libraries (like this):

I had that problem when I had too many paths going to the SDG's. I had two
FC Switches tiered together and both switches each had a path to two
separate SDG's. I removed the link between the FC Switches and the problem
went away.
In that case, I was seeing 8 libraries and 8 drives. Now I am

That's a good start.

It is probably a database backup tape. Try q drm and the volume name...
You could look in the volume history file too, it would tell you when it was
created and for what purpose.

Zoning for both the San Data Gateways and the Switches will probably help

Marc, see my previous append - you CAN restore an individual file using the

generate a backupset and specify the filespace(s) you want to have included
