How can I see when a file that has been backed and subsequently deleted (on the client) when it will be removed from the server? I know the RETONLY parameter says to keep it the number of days, so I can make a guess at when it was deleted and then add on the number of days in the RETONLY

The following SQL statement can show you when the TSM server got a newer copy of the file: SELECT deactivate_date FROM backups WHERE node_name='DEMON' AND filespace_name='/' AND hl_name='/etc/' AND ll_name='hosts' AND state='INACTIVE_VERSION (all as one line, split up for ease of reading)

Should have said that if the file is the last inactive version left, then the retain only version value will apply rather then the retain extra version value, but you still need to know the management class and deactivate date to work it out.

There are a few different ways to do this. 1) If you have Site A and Site B then with the right high speed connection you could backup the servers from Site A directory to 1 TSM server at Site B. Of course this may not be feasible if you have more data to backup in a night then your window and
