Hello again out there !
I have a little question for you guys
The inclexcl statement, does it have effect when i run a archive. And how
do i perform a
backup on excluded files/directorys ? Whithout changing my option
files.
Kind regards,
Peter
How can I see when a file that has been backed and subsequently deleted (on
the client) when it will be removed from the server?
I know the RETONLY parameter says to keep it the number of days, so I can
make a guess at when it was deleted and then add on the number of days in
the RETONLY
Lg
in the process of moving backup volumes offsite volume U11108 was
successfully moved to VAULT
09/27/01 10:24:22 ANR6683I MOVE DRMEDIA: Volume U11108 was moved from
NOTMOUNTABLE state to VAULT.
however the reclamation process also selected this tape !?
The following SQL statement can show you when the TSM server got a newer copy of the
file:
SELECT deactivate_date FROM backups
WHERE node_name='DEMON' AND filespace_name='/'
AND hl_name='/etc/' AND ll_name='hosts'
AND state='INACTIVE_VERSION
(all as one line, split up for ease of reading)
So far I can see only in actlog..the file will be expired.

Hello,
We need some help with our Disaster Recovery scenario.
We have two Network Storage Managers, model C01, with TSM Server for AIX
V4.1 and DRM licensed, both attached to their own IBM 3494 ATL.
Our goal is to achieve DR without manual tape-handling, so all data must be
send across the wire.
Should have said that if the file is the last inactive version left, then the
retain only version value will apply
rather then the retain extra version value, but you still need to know the
management class and deactivate date to work it out.
There are a few different ways to do this.
1) If you have Site A and Site B then with the right high speed connection
you could backup the servers from Site A directory to 1 TSM server at Site
B. Of course this may not be feasible if you have more data to backup in a
night then your window and
We have actually used option 1 below on more than 1 occasion for similar
reasons.

Hi,
would it not be possible to copy the primary pools from site A directly to a
sequential pool in site B, by sharing robotics between A and B ? This would
eliminate the need to establish server-to-server connections,

Yes. Use the SAN.
Library 1 contains device class 1 and storage pool 1 .. library 2
contain copy storage pool of 1 and device class 2 .
Guess where library 2 is located?

Eduardo,
Below is an e-mail that was sent to me. I thought it was a very good idea
and was actually quite embarrassed that I didn't mention that option as well
so I thought everyone should benefit.
Remember that extending your SAN is a great idea but has a cost per
distances
Try:
Select volume_name,date(last_read_date) from volumes

Hello,
since a few days, one of my adsm-servers crashes down, telling something about
storage-problems.
The adsm-server runs on WinNT 4.0- EnterpriseEdition - SP5. The ADSM release is
3.1.2.50 (yes, I know, I have
to upgrade it!). Has anyone seen this messages before and maybe some hints to
Hello all,
I have finally mastered the scripting of daily checks on AIX through Perl or
Kornshell with SQL or just one simple query to a file and then in a mail
but.
I wonder if someone can help me on the next question:
How can I place two or more commands in a script?
the script will
