Rafael,
c:\winnt\system32\config\ contains the files representing your system
objects. You cannot backup those files directly as they are always
exclusively open by the system.
When you let TSM do a backup of your system objects, in fact a kind of
workaround for those files is put in action: TSM
I think that TSM cant directly backup registry etc so TSM exports it to
C:\ADSM.SYS folder and therefor you exclude c:\winnt\system32\config folder
from backup by default.

Greetings TSM'ers,
I have a question regarding using the TSM scheduler in an Oracle TDP
environment (Solaris7) the vital statistics are:
TSM Server version 4.1.4 on Windows NT4, SP6A.
TSM Client version 4.2 on Solaris V2.7.
TDP for Oracle V2.2 for Solaris.
The TDP requires PASSWORDACCESS
Is the MOVE MEDIA a command I could use to do this?
Yes.
Issue MOVE MEDIA * STG=* wherestatus=full, f.e. This will check all full
tapes from your library out.

Hi Ruud,
It seems that you try to start the same TSM server twice
Try nohup /usr/tivoli/DR_tsm/server/bin/dsmserv /dev/null for the
second server.

Change directory to the server start directory (where the dsmserv.dsk file
is for the second server) before you start the server. Set DSMSERV_CONFIG to
point to your option file or use the -o option of dsmserv to point to your
option file.

In the US what Ted says is true. However, you can buy a bunch of points
that are TSM points under a Passport agreement and they may give you a
little flexibility on committing/redeploying those points at time of need in
a contract provision.

I am trying to get multiple servers running on one AIX machine.

I create backup sets weekly and have done some successful restores using
the command below.
dsmc restore backupset /dev/rmt/0 -loc=tape
Not sure if this helps though as I'm pretty new to all this.

I've just upgraded my AIX server from 3.7.4 to 4.2.1.8 and I encounter two

Do not overcomplicate this without need. Define two servers in dsm.sys

different DSM_CONFIG environment variable. Or even start both clients.

Hi, Farren,
Can't use the -loc
We use tcpip to restore direct from the server over the network to the clients.
Anyway despite the manual do not think that that you can restore a backupset

a locally attached tape with netware client.

Yep, that can happen. You may need a bunch of tapes to restore ONE!

Why not just start the second scheduler service with the server stanza

There was a bug in a very early 4.2.x release that didn't allow for the

That is a very good question, sinbce I don't have DRM (or at least I didn't

You could run two client schedulers, using separate dsm.opt files pointing
to the two TSM servers. You would create a schedule on TSM server EVEN
that did backups on even days, and a schedule on TSM server ODD that did
backups on odd days (or you could do day of week if you prefer). Each

Since we upgraded IBMtape from 3.0.3.2 to 4.0.4.7, mtlib and tapeutil are not
able to access any of our 3590's in a 3494.

mtlib -l magstor3 -f /dev/rmt/3st -qD

Frequent submitter, and all-around great guy, Mark Stapleton helped with

We do this from within an AIX Korn-shell script. This is basics of the

Actually, a tier 1 server is not the workstation client (4-points). The
tier 1 server LAN Managed Client is 7 points. Are the CAD Workstations
INTEL using Windows (4-point is only available for Macs and them based on
