Hi Yes, every node registred on the server counts as one client license. Also, if you use separate nodenames for Tivoli Data Protection clients, everyone will count as 1 Managed System LAN. I'm not sure, but I also think that every Managed System SAN counts as one managed systems lan also.

As I understand it, one needs to buy one managed system (LAN or SAN) per managed SYSTEM, regardless of how many nodes are registered on that system. The 'q license' report is not necessarily a good indication of how many client BA licenses you have to buy (it works well for TDPs and libraries).

Actually you will need IBMtape driver 4.0.4.7 for Sun Solaris systems. Also make sure that you move your /kernel/drv/st.conf file (like to st.conf.orig) because the Solaris scsi tape drivers will attempt to attach to the devices first. The config file for IBMtape will be at /usr/kernel/IBMtape.

The client expiration issue (doesn't count as an in use license if node has not been used in 30 dyas) is one part that TSM Licensing actually works for ... In our case we have 14 Nodes that have not been accessed in over 30 days. A query license does not inlcude these nodes - only counts nodes
