Try taking a look at APAR IC31840.
To get the 4.1.3 64-bit version of the GUI to run I have found it nessecary
(in a Bourne-like shell) to run it using:
export LC_CTYPE=C
dsm
The other workaround is to install the 32-bit client on the 64-bit kernel
machine.

We had crashing problems similar to this and drew it down to
TCPWINDOWSIZE=2048 causing the problem because we did not have the registry
setting necessary to make things happen. Since we changed to
TCPWINDOWSIZE=63 the problem went away, but we are going to try to go back
sometime in the future.

You should contact IBM support and provide the Dr. Watson log files that
were created when the client crashed. You should also provide dsm.opt and
dsmerror.log. The folks in TSM support should be able to work with

with the Tsm clients?
I've got a V4.2.13 Tsm client running on Netware V5 backing
up to TSM 4.1.2 server.
When I query the filespaces from a administrative interface
it does not have any entries for the last backup start time etc.

I know that it can vary depending of the type of the data, however there
should be an "announcable" number that admins can use to project.

due to invalid password file. We reset the password
and it is ok for awhile then happens again. Someone responded that there
was a fix APAR IC31516, but I can not find this fix

I set an inittab entry to start the dsmcad process and it does not work.
I am refreshing the inittab so that it see's the new entry (telinit q)
